Reading this chapter is like zooming down a particular high segment of a rollercoast: Feels like my stomach dropping until it bottomEd out. I feel like crying for Dean, for Sam, and for Bobby.

Whooo, who's the mysterious person lone on the road? Hurrying towards the next part...

Thanks sugah! I always wanted the doctor to be a fairly ambivalent character. As amoral as he is in some ways [and by this I don't mean sexually, because I don't view homosexuality as any kind of sin/crime], notably his 'taking advantage' of the obviously 'touched-in-the-head' Bender, he did try to stop them taking Dean and does his best to help him here. But I also wanted to make it very clear [here's the ambivalence] that he acts in the way best suited to his own predicament at any one time, and definitely not for the greater good.

Aaahhh! No Missy cannot still be alive! I know I sound sadistic or something, but I want her dead! She's gonna kill Swenson or something. The best break/help they've had so far! Aaah clifhangers! ; )

I don't even know what else to say, this is just too exciting to pause for comments (yet I'm typing away).

Btw, I forgot to say earlier - I LOVE Kathleen's thought process when she was giving Dean mouth-to-mouth! And when she saw him in his 'birthday suit'! Little lolz amidst the drama is always a plus.

This is as far as I got in one shot, at the doc’s place in chapter 16. Heh.

Love the beginning with the three qualifiers of Missy Bender. I was wondering if I would have picked up the references to season 4 if I hadn’t known (because - sigh - sometimes I don’t see what’s in front of my nose), but they’re right there for us to “enjoy”. Starting with the hellhounds. Officer Kathleen takes Ruby’s place, except she’s on the good side, with Sam around at the beginning, who cuts ties for a while before they reunite. Missy gently touching Dean like Anna in Heaven and Hell and, the minute after, talking to him like Alastair would. I also kind of like the reverse situations where Sam is the one who stabs to the spine while Dean slumps down like Sam does in Hell1. At one point, I wondered if Dean had disappeared for 40 days before being rescued. Heh. So, it makes for a rather “exciting” read. The start is kind of nerve racking when you know something ugly is coming Dean’s way, but it takes its time. The Benders just make you shudder ( ... )

Wow. To think I finished the story two days after my post!

there are a couple of nods in there to dark!Sam, in his attack on the doctor and something else [pretty minor] that I won't elaborate on in case you haven't gotten that far [I can't remember which chapter it's in!].
Do you mean when he gets the glass of water to crash? It mirrors Dean full-on swayzeing the glass of water in Time of Dying. ^_^

I wrote this partly to 'rehabilitate' Sam in my own mind as season 4 aired...In your own mind is right - hee! - because I came close to HATING him in the next chapter (or chapters). Hated his decisions, his interference in Dean’s intimacy, if you wish. He may be trying to do what’s best, but he’s obscenely intruding, when you know how Dean is ( ... )

I found you! I wonder now if I was secretly channeling S4 Sam if you hated him! It’s funny because everyone else thinks this is perfect caring Sam but yes I can understand how you would see him as interfering though I did hope it would come over as him doing what he *thought* was best. But there is definitely a control thing going on there too… and the whole John Winchester vibe too: I’ve always thought Sam was more like John, and didn’t need Show to confirm it for me in TMatEoTB. Maybe it was prescience?

For me Dean in this really wasn’t intended to be the Dean we know… I think [hope! Am scared now about what you will think!] he is more himself in TKM [bar the odd woobie scene]!

Hey, I don’t mind concrit! I’m a journalist, so I have to deal with it every day! ;-)
