[PG] A Mech Has a Reason
Prompt:  A man always has two reasons for doing anything: a good reason and the real reason. - J. P. Morgan
It was a surprise for Excavate when his progeny brought home a guest from the academy.  It was not the arrival of a guest in itself that was surprising, because Skyfire - ever dutiful and unfailingly considerate towards his creator, even to the point of fault - had asked permission to bring a guest.

Excavate had been relieved, because his son was far too reclusive as a rule. When he’d asked who, he’d been given a rather vague answer - ‘Oh, er, just somebody from the academy, creator … I thought you’d like to meet’ - which had him wondering if Skyfire had found himself a femme, but was embarrassed to say so.

Apparently that wasn’t the case.

The mech on his doorstep was a Seeker. Although the mech was larger than most in Iacon, he was dwarfed by both Excavate and Skyfire, and perhaps that was making him nervous, because he hesitated to speak.

“Good afternoon sir and thank you for the invitation to your home.” The Seeker spoke Iacos, but he sounded like he was reading words from a list, and his accent was atrocious.

“Good evening.” Excavate glanced at his son. So much for ‘unfailingly considerate’; this friend was bound to cause a stir with the other guests, most of whom had probably never spoken to (or intended to speak to) a Vosnian native.

On principle, he probably shouldn’t encourage inconsiderate behaviour by allowing his son’s friend to stay - but on the other servo, neither of them had technically done anything wrong, and it would probably be good for the young Seeker to see the rituals of another culture. It would also be rude to turn him away at the door… not to mention that half of his guests were bigots, and the looks on their faces would be worth every moment of fall-out.

“Come on inside.”
