[PG] Alone
Prompt: A picture - Alone in a crowd
Length: 481 words

For this Chapter:
Scene#: [ one] [ two] [three] [YOU ARE HERE] [five] [six]

Starscream was given some gentle encouragement by the bailiff to enter the stand, and though this irked him no end, a rare sensibility (and perhaps a sort of stupefaction from the situation he found himself in) prevented the normally volatile individual from attempting to deck the officer.

The stand was a circular platform raised about a step off the floor, facing the much taller stands of the jurors, the council magistrate, and other court officials that the Seeker had never bothered to learn the correct term for.

Bright lights glared down at him from above, designed with the idea of dazzling the optics of the speaker (prisoner or witness) such that they were disoriented and unable to easily determine the identity of those above- more for psychological reasons than security, though a containment field could be rendered around the stand if required.

“Prisoner Gwachias… Gwaixs…” somebody above struggled with what the seeker guessed was supposed to be his native designation - presumably either the council magistrate, or some petty announcer. The speaker ultimately settled on something sounding a bit like ‘Gwaizdowrzask,’ but not very much like his name at all. Uncertain of whether to feel smug that the (probably) groundling couldn’t physically pronounce it, or affronted that he hadn’t.

It was probably less harmful to be magnanimous.

“Please, refer to me as Starscream.” He said, smirking (squinting) in to the light with unfelt confidence.
