I continue to be speechless even two days after the fact. The words "amazing" and "orgasmic" come to mind but fall short of fully expressing the incredible spiritual mecca The Cure evoked in all of us. There was singing at the top of your lungs and dancing that was wild and free. The energy of the stadium was in harmony as every one let go to the music. The Cure is the cure.
We ended up borrowing my mother's car rather than going with Manny. At 5:30 I called her to see if she was close and she tells me, "I'm (far) and stuck in traffic, I'm so sorry I don't know where my head was." So after many sighs, sighs, sighs and "fucks" she arrived and we made it on time! We entered the stadium and I was completely numb and unaware that this was really, truly, FINALLY happening. My stomache pained in excitement so I filled it with food to stifle the screams. We walked over to our section (104) and our seats (row 17 #5&6) and watched the opening band. They played for half an hour and as soon as they stopped and the lights were turned back on Claudia calls.
"Laura, we just got floor tickets."
"What do you mean?"
She explains the situation that a manager gave Kori two tickets and she mentioned us and got two more. "Do you want to come?"
At this point I assumed she was playing a prank on me or that the tickets were fake so as my mind races through all these "it can't be true" situations I hear
"If you don't want the we'll give them to someone else."
...and like a bomb in my head I thought she was fucking crazy to even mention that to me and OF COURSE.
Needless to say Kori, Claudia, Purrness and I watched The Cure from the floor.
The Cure came back on stage for five encores. They played for 3.5 hours. All of it was full of extasy. As we walked out Claudia says to me "it hasn't hit you yet." I denied that statement as I felt happiness settle in every inch of my being but it wasn't until the car ride home that I cried. I felt satisfied and found closure in experiencing them live. The Cure is the only band that has ever touched me and seeing them live was like finally meeting God and saying "thank you". Wow, that was incredibly corny.
