1991 Toyota 4Runner SR5 22RE

So as a few people know, I recently purchased a 1991 Toyota 4Runner SR5 (4 cylinder 22RE) for the low low introductory price of $250.

The truck had clearly seen some pretty active use and I was warned that it had recently started having issues with overheating - drive 15 minutes, let it cool, rinse and repeat. So rather than risk driving it, I had AMA tow it to a Canadian Tire a mere block from where I work.

And thus began the bad news and sticker shock ;) The current challenge I face is to decide whether I want to fix it up so it will pass an insurance inspection or sell it for parts.

Items I haven't quite figured out how to translate from the Canadian Tire work sheet and determine the actual part needed are:

Replace parking brake cable (front)

front e-brake cable

Felpro Cylinder Head Gasket Set for $76.48

Water pump for $33.53

Replacement Fender - Front, Passenger Side for 124.97

Sankei Switches Oil Pressure Switch for $53.95

Replacement Oil Pressure Switch for $5.47

Windshield from Crystal Glass for $204 +tax

Bilstein Shock Absorber and Strut Assembly - Rear for $71.95

Bilstein Shock Absorber and Strut Assembly - Front for $72.95

So far looking at a minimum of $640 in parts, and then of course the time needed to read the manual and figure out how to do the work itself ;) Canadian Tire also indicated I needed 2 new front tires but I'm not 100% convinced. They like selling tires ;)

edited to add

An observant person note some uneven wear on the front tires, so I'm going to see if I can find Pro Comp Radial All Terrain here in Calgary.
