Busy Saturday!

Today was seriously fun! My feet are killing me and I probably got a
bit too much sun... but it was awesome!

I took part in the Calgary edition
of the Worldwide Photo
Walk
, and did what I thought was impossible. I filled my 8GB flash
card on my Canon
EOS 40D
. Jeebus. I got far more good shots than I thought, which
was also cool. I'm hoping to have a selection of them up on flickr
tomorrow at some point. There are a LOT to go through, and I can only
submit 2 of them for the contest in the photo walk. I decided to also
try my hand at HDR, and got what I think are ok results for a first attempt.

After playing around with HDR and grabbing some tasty and very bad for
us dinner at Tubby
Dog
, I wandered off to ... well, wander. Which is when I discovered
a spontaneous living room on 17th Avenue and 8th St SW. That entire
corner is pretty much a torn up dust bowl surrounded by blue rental
fencing. More than a bit of an eyesore, and a sad waste of space right
in the heart of Calgary and a very cool area. So it appears that a
young urban social anarchist of sorts named Tavis Ford slapped together
an impromptu living room. Couches, chairs, coffee tables, tiki
torches.... and complete strangers just came along and sat down and made
conversation with each other. Phenomenal! Got some pictures, and then
just sat down and chilled for awhile. It was good! I had fun, and I
hope to see more of these randomly crop up.
