Never thought I'd see the day I'd do something vaguely crafty sneak up on me after leaving grade school, but my new s/obsession/hobby appears to have it as a requirement if you plan on doing anything more complicated than just buying and owning the things ;)
I'm going to have to pick up a couple more shadow boxes. Tonight was spent just painting a light weight plain block black for the inside of an existing shadow box, as I need something to hold up the bottom of the ID cards I've purchased. Otherwise the front of the cards (which is a bit weighty) will create wear and tear on the spine of the card. Cold war era ID cards have a stiff cardboard front and back that has a bit of mass to it, and I don't want these to get any more wear and tear in my hands than they did in life.
So yeah, just spent a few minutes sitting on the floor with a sponge brush and some black paint. It was kinda fun :) I'm also trying to think up a way to get a picture of the Stasi emblem as well as the KGB emblem that I can overlay onto something else (wood for example) and then do a paint by numbers type thing. Probably need to practice that a few times, because I *think* I'd like to paint those emblems (and a few others) on the front of the tall/narrow set of drawers I purchased a few weeks ago.
