spent the day at another christmas themed craft show, christmas made in the south. of course this is the proper craft show that comes to the area each year.
among the many familiar faces were a few new ones and interesting ideas. ended up walking out of there with two things for myself. another cocoa mix from the perky moose peoples. and
a kalimba! yes, i bought a musical instrument. ever since i learned of their existence, they held my interest whenever i saw them played. now i got one for myself. bought one that actually has a pickup on it, so i can plug it in and pick up its sound. so far i can play a couple of the little tunes included with it.
parents bought a few items including a blown glass tree sculpture, a interesting pot hanger made out of torch cut cans, and a snowman gourd tree ornament.
the local model train club was also there again. since i dug out a few of our trains recently, they were a bit more fascinating than usual this year. course it also helped that the guy one one of the sets was quite exciting and interactive with the people.. like me. got to see how heavy vintage O scale train engines were vs the newer plastic ones and the sort. one of the trains running around that particular layout was a passenger train set from the 1930's. even older was a steam engine from 1912. still ran, but runs at breakneck pace compared to the others. the guy drew a crowd.
the other setup was a HO scale with detailed trains running around. got to see them set up one of the trains to be about 30 cars long. poor thing had an issue where it suddenly didnt want to go forwards after that.
there were photographers selling prints. some quite good, and some that i would dare say are on par with me.
all in all, it was interesting to see all the creativity... course, dragons arent much a christmas thing, so no dragons ;.-.;
Mountain Melodies Manufacturing: Where i got my kalimba from
Aloe Tinnery: interesting items. almost got one of the candle holders cause of how spooky they looked at the booth.
Charleston Are Model Railroad Club: self explanatory.. need to visit them one day.
Robert Jones Photography: the better of the photographers. picked up a few ideas from his stuff a while ago.
