~I'm confused... now I'm happy!

I've been spriting again! It's weirdly soothing, I should do it more often but sometimes I just need a good idea to motivate me to open up Aseprite, haha.

Such as Curly's room from Mouthwashing for my Teeny Tower! It's such a distinct place, it's a perfect fit for a little room and it's fun to see it in the tower with all the others. I had to do some sub-pixel trickery to get it to look like he's breathing without adding a new strip of pixels over his chest. I hope it looks like he's breathing anyway! Kind of significant in game that he does, even when he can't make any other sounds, haha.

I've also added some rooms by other people to the tower if you haven't checked in on it in a while. Sometimes I just leave a tab open with it so I can look over there, all my little rooms are so satisfying to look at. I want to make a Larrykabu one but I need to think of a good setting for one... there's a hot spring but there's already a Mother 3 hot spring room even though I didn't make it. |D Maybe a restaurant...?

Speaking of Larry and Kabu!

I was thinking of the "have you refueled, Larry" line of Kabu's when they join up in Pokemon Masters and I love fanart that has Larry recharging off of Kabu in various ways, it's all so adorable. |D Then I got the idea for a teeny little sprite animation and here we are! Well I say teeny but it's actually the longest sprite animation I've done so far. It's so cute! I can't stop watching it...

Sprite animation always looks really smooth to me, I think it's just the small amount of space tends to make every movement so precise, and the high frame-rate makes them go by quickly to fool the eye, and the consistent lines/sizes of the pixels gets rid of issues like line-weight and things like that. At the same time it's such a challenge to get certain things to look right at such a small scale! The speed that the frames go by helps a lot I think - Kabu's turn to the side has his eyes look very strange if you're zoomed in close for a second but when you're zoomed out it goes by so quickly. Same thing with Larry's nod... if you zoom in it looks very weird, but at the proper scale it's fine. It's its own set of challenges, haha. But this is so cute! I love it.

I also did a little jogging-in-place loop for Kabu while I was doing a good general sprite for him. Hup hup hup! The first run had the no eyes, but the one with eyes does look clearer... getting the movement for jogging in place is really hard!

My first try looked more like he was dancing in place, haha. Insert Riverdance joke here. Does anyone even remember Riverdance anymore...?
