I'M SO HAPPY EVERYONE LOVES EVIL TEMMIE I had the idea for it back in November and made this incredible concept art for it so was ecstatic when Zar agreed we should add it lol. I WOULD'A DRAWN FOR IT had my hand not been injured.
lollllll I am the resident Undertale-AU expert of the friend group........ I have a very "cringe is dead, embrace sincerity and be unabashedly silly. Enjoy whatever you like!", and I have to work REALLY HARD to keep it up. Still it can be a little difficult to try to explain this stuff to people who don't REALLY have an interest in it and/or previously had an active dislike of it.
BUT, from my Expert Status with the knowledge + wisdom I've acquired since I was in the AU fandom since the VERY BEGINNING, Underfell is the ultimate "I can fix them" fantasy. It's fun to make characters edgy and evil, but it's not as edgy if they aren't angsty too!!! Blood and violence and murder is fun to write, but Undertale is ultimately a story about people doing bad things and recovering from it, and Underfell stories basically always follow the same philosophy. People really like the idea of writing edgy characters and having their angelic human character go in, suffer a lot, and convince them to be nice hehe. THEY'RE LIKE PASTEL GASTER IN A WAY.

Cool concept art, haha. Zarla did a good job replicating it. It seems a little strange to me when Ghosts entirely change the artstyle of their appearance occasionally, but White Addison a.k.a pre-Spamton is cute.
I usually try to avoid the word "cringe" at all, haha. I know what you're talking about, and it would be extremely hard for me to keep that attitude, since any excitement or joy from an idea quickly fades when I can't share it with anyone. X( I think every "cringe" idea can become, um, "not cringe" with a proper execution. It's great when people aren't afraid to put real effort into the interest that might seem stupid to someone else, because it has more chances reaching other people who can reciprocate their belief in that idea.
I like to take Undertale AUs or any fanfiction seriously, even if many of them are for self-indulgent purposes. One part of it can be just for fun and entertainment, other part can be what stays with you even the story is finished or you leave the fandom. You can't fix people, people have to want to fix themselves, you can only show them alternative options, which angsty monsters who live in an angsty society have seen a lack of. But it's a fun fantasy for people who simply want to chill and take a break from reality, haha.
SHRUG, I was taking it seriously! I wasn't talking down to it AT ALL when I was talking about what motivated the stories haha. You think far too lowly of fix-it fantasies! It's not inherently an insult lol. Self indulgence is honestly one of the best motivators behind ANY story and it's actually great something could make the author happy!

Of course, I agree with everything you say, really! It's not an insult, people can write whatever they want, lol. It's just that I like have problem with doing something out of self-indulgence for myself, because it doesn't make me happy when I can't share it with anyone, like I said. I admire people who are able to do what they like and turn it into a serious business, even gathering a group of fans where everyone can have fun without feeling judged.

SPEAKING OF ADDISPAM man I was thinking about updating that this April, since looking back on it I don't really like how the shell looks (I rarely ever redraw my old art but there are some things that BOTHER ME ABOUT THAT SHELL pshhhh) as well as a few content updates, since that thing was honestly half finished, but Spamton has SO MUCH WORK IN PROGRESS STUFF for the next update that commenting it all out just for April Fools would've been too much work haha. A LOT TO LOOK FORWARD FOR NEXT YEAR, THOUGH
