Ugh still sick, I thought it passed yesterday but today it's back. :/ Mostly just a runny/stuffy nose and a general stuffed up feeling. I thought I was done with this! I feel dried out when I wake up, maybe I just need to drink more. :o I'm trying!
In the meantime I posted
a Heavy/Medic fic! I actually started it before I left, but on the trip I'd work on it whenever I came back from the day's adventures and before I went to sleep. I was kind of nice to just focus entirely on a fic and not have to think about drawing or Defrag/Handplates for a bit, haha. And getting out and doing stuff and riding trains I think gave me some time to just sit and daydream or brainstorm which also helped. Originally when I started it I only had two scenes in mind (them talking in their native language and Heavy's letter being translated) and didn't really know how to put them together, but eventually over time it all started to gel, haha.
Anyway,
you can read it on AOOOOO! I couldn't really think of a title so I used an MST3k line, and boy I had trouble coming up with a summary, haha. I'm still not entirely happy with it but I'm not sure how else to explain what it's about! It's basically about the two of them having English as a second language and how Heavy is a lot more eloquent in Russian than in English. Spans the period before, during, and after the team disbands! It got way longer than I anticipated EVERYTHING I MAKE GETS LONGER THAN I ANTICIPATED
Medic it turned out was a lot of fun to write, haha. He has a similar vibe to Nny in that he likes dropping casual references to terrible things he's done without any realization of what he's saying, which he does in canon as well, haha. I've seen a lot of fic where Medic is really mean or a drama queen or kind of moody and temperamental and I just wanted to focus on his >:D cheeriness instead, haha. He's ridiculous in his own way! The whole thing is rather light-hearted and cute for the most part, them parting ways when the team disbands withstanding. I like that Heavy basically proposes marriage by saying he wants to kill people with Medic forever lol.
I managed to get the script for the next bit of Handplates down and some very loose thumbs last night before I started dozing off in my chair. This page is going to be a bit tricky... it's fairly significant, it recontextualizes something entirely that runs through the whole comic. How to convey it appropriately is hard... I think I came up with a way though. Hopefully it'll get across the way I intended.
