~This is above my play grade

Uugh sorry for not posting lately, I've been feeling off for the past few weeks. :/ Just sort of listless and apathetic, like when I finish things I don't really feel much about it again. Also getting headaches again for some reason! Feeling tired a lot but also having a lot of nightmares. :/

I've been taking pictures of Xanth books I've been reading for a while and I keep meaning to make a post about it, maybe in a bit. In the meantime, I've been playing Pokemon Legends: Arceus and I'm really enjoying it! It's nice refreshing take on the series I think, it's hard for me to put it down. I'm up to the Coastlands area, so don't spoil anything for me if you're further!

I love the whole setting and the big expansive areas and all the lore inherent to it, haha. I love that Pokemon can attack you personally now! You really feel like you're directly present in the world, especially when you can walk around during Pokemon battles, and your Pokemon will face off with the other Pokemon depending on where they are, like if you throw yours up on a ledge, it'll stay up there while fighting the other one, or if they're on a slope they'll stay on the slope. It also applies to distance, where if you throw a Pokemon close they'll stay close, but I think Pokemon automatically try to get distance between each other when battling, so they'll drift away from each other eventually.

I love that you can get hit by attacks in battle if you wander in front of them! There are so many fun details that really make the world feel alive and that you're a part of it. I love how many people are scared of Pokemon and for good reason since some of them are super aggro and powerful, haha. Alpha Pokemon in particular are scary! I've definitely gotten rocked by them more than once, and they're huge and it's so creepy when you hear their echoing cries but don't know where they are, haha. I've also had some sneak up on me once and it was like AGH

I love how quick the battles are, going in and out of them, it's so snappy! And the loading times are quick too. I think it comes at the cost of environmental detail though... the environments I think could use some more vegetation or detail in places, sometimes they feel a bit sparse, but it's not that big a deal compared to the gameplay itself, haha. It has a very Breath of the Wild feel to it of big open areas where you can just explore and do whatever before going to your next objective. It's VERY Breath of the Wild-ish really right down to the radar and objectives screen and even the item menus look like it. BUT I LOVED BOTW SO I'M NOT COMPLAINING

I was wondering about how restricted the movement was compared to BOTW but that seems to be opening up with new Pokemon I'm getting. I like finding Pokemon sleeping on the field, hehe. And sometimes I've been jumped by them without warning, it can be intense! I like sniping them with Wing Balls, haha. I like being able to craft my own Pokeballs and Potions too so it really feels like a big expedition you're on before you come back all exhausted and with a ton of new Pokemon. I like the goals for catching Pokemon too, always keeps you directed.

I also like all the lore so far! I've always been fascinated about Pokemon before the era of Pokeballs and while this isn't exactly that, it's definitely during a time when humans and Pokemon had a very close relationship... I love how people talk about Pokemon like Gods or nobles, like real people who have their own wants and feelings. They treat them with so much deference and respect! Lords and Ladies, it's so cool. People against the whole concept of Pokeballs, as one would figure. And it's interesting how they're calling Arceus Sinnoh still! I love all of it, it's so fascinating. I like seeing the town slowly grow over time too, and people's Pokemon or opinions changing.

Right now I think my complaints are mostly graphics related... again sometimes it feels a bit sparse or undetailed, especially from a long distance. When you're looking down sometimes it just looks like green ground instead of grass, and the tiling can look a bit weird. On the other hand, it's really a minor complaint - it loads fast and moves fast, which is the real point of it all. I also am not using most of my team most of the time, usually just the lowest level one to take things out or get items, so some of my older members barely come out, haha. That could just be on me though. I also would've liked to see more wild Pokemon interact with each other, like chirping at each other or playing, something like that. And I want to pet my Pokemon again! Talking to them is okay but I WANT MORE. But again, all minor stuff, haha.

ALSO THERE WAS A GIANT ALPHA PARASECT AND I CAUGHT HER AND SHE'S HUGE AND I LOVE HER i named her largesse, running right up to her in the field was such a moment haha

Anyway, I'm really enjoying it! I recommend it, haha.
