I picked up some doujin remix CDs lately, I should sort through those at some point.
I was feeling pretty poorly yesterday, but today I'm back up so woooo. I decided to put together a songpost since I haven't done one in a while, why not. This time it's Refresh 5! I kept trying to think of a good theme title for this one, but it's such a weird random mix of things that nothing really came to mind, oh well. Most of the Refreshes have strong associations for me, but this one's in some weird limbo place.
SEEMS APPROPRIATE ENOUGH

2. Tatsh & Naoki - Red Zone
yes the meme song. WHAT. I actually had a short flash vid in mind to this based on The Passing, where Bill and co from L4D1 would be scrambling around trying to get the generators to turn on, and everyone else would make it to safety and Bill would be left behind. Then when the guitar comes in around like 1:00, he'd turn and see these three tanks coming after him, but then when the music would come in suddenly the tanks would get attacked by some SUSPICIOUSLY FAMILIAR LOOKING ZOMBIES, giving Bill a chance to escape! But even when he makes it to the lift, he can't get up because it's too high... and at the last second, a Smoker pulls him up to safety! But then the ladyzombies disappear as mysteriously as they came, dun dun dun. I NEVER DID IT BUT THAT'S WHAT I PICTURE EVERYTIME I HEAR THIS

This is a huge mashup of dozens of clips from all sorts of TV shows and movies and it's so hypnotic. There's even an MST3k quote in there!

I first heard about this when people were complaining it was a ripoff of Lady Gaga's Telephone. Which it kind of is. But it's still pretty catchy!

I came across this song on a Hunter/Smoker fanvid lol I ENDED UP PICKING UP THE SONG THOUGH

Can totally see the ladyzombies hunting some foolhardy survivors to this.
16. Team Nekokan - No Sleep Until Clear!!
This song is so much fun to scream along to in the car, especially near the end.
17. wowaka - Two Faced Lovers (腹話)
A pretty huge hit in Vocaloid terms, an extremely rapid song. The version on here is a cover by a real dude who adds a really cool countermelody during the chorus that I really like.
18. Pendulum - Girl in the Fire
Purely instrumental, always sort of pictured a blend of ladyzombies and ladysurvivors on adventures to this.
19. OSTER-Project - Trick and Treat (Ritsuka)
The version on the cd is a cover, one that emphasizes the initial whispering building to louder more intense singing, which I assume was what the original producer was going for.
20. Enya - White is in the Winter Night
From Halloween to Christmas! This freaking song drove me crazy for days.
21. Above & Beyond - Good For Me
A slowpaced and very sweet kind of ethereal trance song, it always puts me in such a tranquil mood.
22. Amon Tobin - Esther’s
An odd song constructed out of different sound effects, kind of ominous.
23. Rihanna - G4L
Another normal song! shock. i dunno why i'm so fond of the random beeps.
24. Gregory and the Hawk - Boats and Birds
a real downer of a song but so sweet. I actually first heard this as the "credit song" for an episode of an anime that some kid made on youtube. I can't remember what it was called, they were a teenie so it was put together in moviemaker and you can guess at the quality, but I did find this song as a result, haha.
25. Howard Shore - Gollum’s Song (trim)
As usual, closes on a down note. I always think of Jockey singing this, haha. I needed to make room on the disk though, so I ended up cutting off the ending where it goes back into the more standard LOTR theme. It's a little sadder that way I think.
