~Some eggs don't even exist
Woop I should've posted these last time but the entry was already long enough and I thought it'd be distracting SO INSTEAD
I have all these ideas for pictures but actually sitting down and doing them or even coloring things seems like such hard work lately, ugh. GOTTA SIT DOWN AND GET THIS STUFF OUT. Anyway, have some comics. Two are not Phoenix Wright related this time! And two are. Them's the odds.
I CAN'T BE THE ONLY PERSON WHO THOUGHT THIS ABOUT THIS SONG for some reason I kept waking up with this version in my head, aaaagh.
As one may guess I watched all of Over the Garden Wall and it was pretty interesting, darker than I thought it would get at points. I wasn't really satisfied by the ending and it's hard to articulate why exactly, eh maybe I'll untangle it later but still! A fun ride though, I'd recommend it.
I just wanted to get this idea out really fast, even faster than my normal sketchy lines, so I gave heavy black lines/one color shading a shot. I actually like how it looks, I may do this for quick comics in the future.
(i tried at first to more closely mimic the show and it... did not work. we all have dot eyes down here)
KEFKA
I actually was thinking about Doma when this scenario came to mind where Leo was like DON'T poison Doma Kefka I'm serious DON'T and then the minute he left Kefka poisoned Doma. YOU CAN'T TRUST THE GUY
but a dude on fire has more immediate results so I shifted it a little
The background is the Imperial Camp! WHICH POINTS EVEN MORE STRONGLY TO DOMA I could've put them somewhere else but eh whatever.
I think the wiki says Kefka paints his hands white too but that seems weird (yes i am aware of who we're talking about) and also looked weird to me here so instead it's just his face. Probably should've done his neck though, eh.
I like the huge contrast between the fancy smooth magic fire drake and the two color cartoon fire on the guy. My priorities are clear.
me and bardicfeline joke about a 2-4 version of Phantom of the Opera every now and then and the image of Matt demanding they perform an opera about Shoe was too cute, I had to do something with the idea. HE JUST LOVES SHOE SO MUCH i'd watch that opera though
Celeste is so done with this.
Also done in that super quick style as for the OTGW thing above, it's pretty handy.
bardic ALSO pointed out to me that Jack is actually an accomplished singer! And then we got to thinking about how this could relate to Juan somehow because we're dorks. And it turns out that Jack's glory days actually coincide just about perfectly with Juan's childhood! JUAN TOTALLY COULD'VE BEEN A JACK HAMMER FANBOY, ISN'T THAT ADORABLE
Inspired to acting and singing by how cool Jack was in his favorite movie, awwww. And then Jack's career takes that sudden downturn for reasons we all know from 1-3 when Juan's 14. WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS CHILDHOOD HERO, HE USED TO BE SO GREAT :<
and then Jack DIES HORRIBLY
AND THEN JUAN DIES HORRIBLY A YEAR LATER, THAT'S NOT WHAT HE MEANT BY SAYING HE WANTED TO BE JUST LIKE YOU JACK sob
(I always forget how much older Jack is than all the other heroes, Will and Juan and Matt are all like 21 and Jack is THIRTY SEVEN, an actual adult haha)
Tiny Matt here because I'm so weirdly fixated on the idea they were friends at one point, I don't know why. His one bang isn't quite long enough to cover his eye, though not that there's anything to hide. I thought about actually giving him two bangs but he just looked kinda odd that way.
Matt's drawing a picture of a cat though it's hard to tell. |D He's trying to hide his work from Juan for no real reason, sure.
Picking up the habit from one of Jack's movies also be a cute explanation for why Juan's always chewing on a reed, haha. THE SINGING SAMURAI ALWAYS LOOKED SO COOL WHEN HE DID IT
I did some color cast variations with this when I was doing the text in Photoshop to bring out the red and yellow, which I haven't done much before but gave this the right kind of glow I was looking for. For the heck of it, here it is before.
GOTTA GET THAT WARM WATERCOLORY LOOK i don't know how to describe it it was just how i saw it in my head okay. Have to remember this in the future.
OH YEAH their little bandages are because they were tussling not too long ago, as usual. :B
