But hey, in the meantime! I stumbled across this dude who does these piano albums of FF music! And a lot of them are really, really good I think. The whole albums are on youtube, let's see.
A Melancholy Tribute to FF7A Melancholy Tribute to FF8A Melancholy Tribute to FF9 I first saw the FF8 one and was intrigued because FF8 has some of my favorite songs and I was not disappointed. Let's see, I wonder if I can find some of my favorite tracks off these...
Dang, I can't find the piano version (tho there is this
orchestral version) of Balamb Garden off the FF8 one is great (Balamb Garden is one of my favorite FF songs, come to think of it), as is
Blue Fields,
Compression of Time, and Find Your Way, but the whole thing is really good, I totally recommend it. Also never thought I'd hear such a calm and mellow version of
Don't Be Afraid, or
Force Your Way or
Man with the Machine Gun, wow.
As much as I love the music of FF7 I have so many conflicted feelings about that game, it's hard to look past them. But
Cid's Theme,
Mako Reactor,
Off the Edge of Despair, Other Side of the Mountain, and particularly
Oppressed People I think were really nice off the FF7 one. Did not think Oppressed People could ever sound like that.
The FF9 one has some great stuff on it too, like the
Kingdom of Burmecia,
Over the Hill,
Terra, and especially
Fleeting Life, which is really haunting version of the Black Mage Village theme. Also this isn't on the cd properly, but the
piano version of Qu's Marsh kind of does the same thing, a complete change for something so bombastic originally.
They also have a bunch of other vids that aren't on the albums on
their youtube channel, you should check them oouuttt
I also posted this at
dreamwidth with reluctant ambivalence. Comment here or there, don't matter to me!
