Hi. I haven't commented before, but I recently discovered your work, and I love what I'm seeing. Even though I've never played Left 4 Dead, I greatly enjoy the adventures of LadySmoker and LadyHunter.

I hope you won't think me rude if I just express my feelings on the Juan comic.

Quite frankly, I don't think Smoker comes off as very sympathetic here. I feel like Juan's concerns and frustration are...well...pretty understandable. Him saying stuff like "I feel like I give and give and you never give back" sounds like a rather accurate appraisal of the situation. The thing that set the whole argument off, her not calling to let him know she'd be an hour late...that's not him being controlling or trying to fix her. That's just common courtesy, and her excuse that he's not on her mind 24/7 so why does it matter...it just doesn't sound very fair. If you're going to be late, you tell the other person. Don't just leave them hanging and wondering what's wrong. By saying something like that, it shows that no, she doesn't care about him or the relationship.

I can't help but feel that Juan was pretty justified in feeling angry or upset with her, and I don't think that Smoker comes off well at all.

I hope you don't think I'm being obnoxious or picky. I love your work and I hope to see more of it. I just wanted to express my feelings on that one particular section.

Haha no it's no problem! I like hearing stuff like this. :B BUT YES YOU ARE RIGHT he was right to be concerned about her calling him, and Smoker being in a bad mood and refusing to talk about it also didn't help. She could have handled it a lot better, but instead it ended up snowballing into a general fight about their relationship. Smoker says things that just set Juan off, he says things that set her off, and so on. This fight was just one in a string of them.
Thus later on when Hunter brings it up, Smoker doesn't put all the blame on him, since she's aware she handled situations like that poorly, haha. Mistakes were made, as she put it. :B
FEELINGS ARE HARD Like I said, Smoker's emotional unavailability was what ended a lot of her relationships. SHE IS HARD TO BE IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH as Hunter found out for herself.

Edit - OH ALSO that fight is from Juan's blog and thus is his version of things, and thus Smoker's version could be different. Like Smoker says, he was the one who gave her the makeup that showed up in that one fic (dang I meant to link to that in this, oops), and it could be that the concern and such he shows in his posts had another side to it that wasn't as obvious. BUT WHO KNOWS

That's absolutely true about this being mostly his version. I was going to mention that, but my idiotic ADD-esque brain forgot. Bleh. It's what I get for trying to analyze anything at two in the morning.
