Big thank you to eco_mono for recording that. It broadcasts at ridiculous o'clock, so I've never gotten to listen to it. BUT THAT SAD TIME IS ENDED. :o

I just bought Actraiser a couple weeks ago. It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that I could shoot at the monster in the sim stages. :B

I'm going to have to read through all that again when I'm more awake I think. I don't even have Flash, but I've always wondered how it actually worked...

FLASH IS FAIRLY COMPLICATED but actually, once you get in the mindset for it, you can plan animation out in terms of it and it gets easier, if that makes sense?

It is! The side-scrolling bits are a bit too hard for my limited skills, but they're pretty so I guess it evens out.

I think I get it. Steep learning curve, but once you get it, you've got it. I think?

Yeah, the sidescrolling bits can be frustrating. Especially the bossrush at the end. >:(

Yeah, that's very much it. It can be really intimidating, but once you start to think in terms of Flash it gets much easier.

I love Actraiser! It was kind of like Populous, if you ever played that. :B It was a neat combination of sidescroller and simulation and had some great music. :D

Oh, Dwarf Fortress! I looked that up once, but the too much ASCII messes with my head. I think Ian mentioned once that it was like staring into the Matrix, which is pretty accurate for me. :B But I might look into the graphical packs though. :O

Really hated those whirlpool and team switching pools though :O those got damn annoying when the computer spammed them...
Wow, just realised its been like 15 years since I last played Pop2 o.O
Going to have to DL that now and see if I can get it running! :D

I forgot to mention, but there is also a thriving community that writes stories based on the fortress's they have played, and there are a fair few that are just Epic and very well written.
Some of the more interesting ones come from "community fortress's" which involve playing a year on a map then writing up what happened and passing it on to the next guy, this makes for some rather interesting stories :F

Hahaha I've heard about some Dwarf Fortress stories... like this one fortress that got killed by a bunch of elephants, and had a war with the elves nearby and set off a volcano and destroyed themselves, and good times.

I know I should be happy to not have to get up at a godforsaken hour to listen to the show but I'm going to wait and see what happens next Thursday. I feel like I shouldn't get my hopes up too much in case I somehow jinx it.
