~Fun with EarthBound - The War is Over

Wake up number 37 that song I swear to god.

OH speaking of creepy stuff, me and Chris were talking about old creepy animated movies, and I mentioned the stopmotion Alice movie (which sadly is not on youtube in its entirety, but you can see some clips here, here, here, and here) and Chris mentioned a movie called Fantastic Planet. I'd never heard ( Read more... )

I thought for a while that the end of the Giygas battle was the end of the game, until you mentioned finishing the screencap adventure. And I thought it'd be really cool to end on that involving emotional high and that ambiguous did-they-live note. But this Easter-eggish poking of NPCs is so much more fitting of Earthbound.

And ace commentary on this batch, BTW. I gigglesnortLOL'd!

That would be a really crazy way to end a game, actually. :D Now there's an ending that'd go down in infamy. EVERYONE DIES, NO ONE WINS!

It's a nice way to wind down after the emotional high of the Giygas battle. :D

Epilogue, yay! pyrasaur January 7 2008, 06:07:20 UTC
YES! YES YES YES YES YEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!11

One thing that always disappointed me (like when I first played Ocarina of Time, all those years ago), is that after you beat the game, you're transported to right before the final boss. You don't get thanked by grateful NPCs or anything. Dammit. There was much less incentive to beat the final boss more than once, because of that. I always wondered what happened to Link afterward, too.

Not so for Earthbound. My liking of it rose by 200%. Yes!! >w<

Wheeeee! I loved this ending. It was just... really nice to be able to wind down like that and still be able to go around and talk to people. You know?

THANKS FOR PLAYING YOU WERE GREAT BYE NOW

A WINNER IS YOU

I was really relieved when they all got back to their bodies, too. I was worried about that. I mean, it would still be worth it to save the world, but still, sad.

god that part was so adorable. Jeff ♥

AND THAT'S WHY I LIKE YOU PAULA

:D YEP

Now I can finally get a good night's rest. I MEAN, NOTHING.

*snerk* XD Yeah he did spend a lot of nights fixing stuff.

I've been stealing things from people this whole game, why not read someone else's mail. Put that final larcenous cherry on the sundae of theivery.

He's STANDING right THERE XO jeez

Tony: furiously gay for Jeff? y/yYYYYY ( ... )

ME TOO I was all worried they'd die and nooooo

Hahahahaha I'm picturing Ness with a :D face there and Jeff going "hey, that letter looks like it's for me. Yup, it sure does. Are you...oh, you're going to read it. >("

There's a ton of little things in the game, if you take the time to look. :D I love it when games have little details like that.

Heh, you can! But it takes a long time, if I remember right. I never really did it myself.

Heh, the book. I KIND OF SCREWED THAT UP THOUGH, YOU'LL SEE LATER

I did! It jsut restores PP. HOW DISAPPOINTING.

I KNOW i wanted jeff and tony to at least chat or something. Ah well.

::aghast face::

Hahahha yeah. XD I think Ness is a little too used to just taking stuff that's lying around. OH, IT'S IN A BOX. MUST BE FOR ME! :D

I thought I did! :B It was pretty late at night, though, so I probably... missed a few areas.

Yeah, I bet it would, given how long Escargot can take although considering they're usually coming from several towns away, and sometimes across the ocean or through Peaceful Rest Valley or something.... I barely ever bought food, though, so I guess I wouldn't have bought pizza and thereby gotten the number. :B I was obsessive about hoarding my money and I'd just use food that enemies dropped all the time, and then zip back to Ness's house (or Saturn Valley, later, or that guy's shack in the desert... I'm pretty sure the Threed bit where you have to stay in a hotel is the first time I ever did. SO CHEAP LOL) when that ran out. Because I had this idea that if I wasted my money on FOOD, why then, I wouldn't be able to buy equipment later on! :O and yeah Horns of Life and such are expensive but by the end of ( ... )

Haha me too, I barely bought food either. I just used PSI cause I was so paranoid about using items. Hurr. WHAT IF IT'S IMPORTANT WHAT IF I REALLY NEED IT

I confess that I choked up reading this regardless of your goofy commentary.

I love Earthbound hardcore and it's all due to you sharing it that I got into it in the first place. It's an amazing game and seeing it so close to over is sad even though I'm not actually playing it... I love everything about it :)

Thanks.

Now to go write some Earthbound fic to commemorate. Maybe some Tony/Jeff slash...

ME TOO the ending of this game gets to me every time especially when the credits roll, and OH GOD I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH

I am SO GLAD that you started playing it! This game deserves every ounce of love that it gets, and the fact that some people have experienced it's joy themselves now thanks to me makes me feel so awesome. :D

Me: *Poo leaves* What, that's it? Right now? Why geez, you little prick--EEEEEEEE OMG PRESENTS

Tiny Poo sitting in a high chair banging his spoon and screaming BYE BYE BYE BYE over and over again.

Ahh, cutest/funniest mental image right now. ;D

*squeals loudly over Tony's letter* THEIR LUFF IS PURE AS CHRISTMAS SNOW

I'LL BE HERE... WHY...? I'LL BE WAITING... HERE... FOR WHAT? I'LL BE WAITING... FOR YOU... SO... IF YOU COME HERE... YOU'LL FIND ME. I PROMISE.

FF8 reference? :o *DUNDUNDUN*

Aw, hee hee, Ness's mom. XD "We got less laundry since you've left!" And I need to try that with the For Sale sign! ROFL. XDDD Thank you sign, good-bye sign.

Weird though. I thought the game messed up when you die against the Shattered Men? Ah well.

*singing* Every breath you take... every move you make... Geez, Tony's such a stalker. XD WE LOVE HIM ANYWAY

TONY/JEFF OTP I need to scan that doujinshi that reminds me.

IT IS hahaha oh FF8. I don't know why I liked that game so much. IT WAS NOT A VERY GOOD ONE REALLY.

Oh For Sale sign. YOU SERVED ME WELL.

Ooo you may be right about the Shattered Men. :O I should go check.

YES YOU SHOULD. THEN ILL MAKE ICONS AND SHARE WITH YOU AND EVERYBODY THE LUFF

The opening is my favorite I've seen in a video game, and I ADORE the music to death, but I don't think I'm gonna like the game itself. XDDDDD! I'd most likely be frustrated or bored to death or something.

*makes a grave for the For Sale sign*

YAY BECAUSE I LOVE YOUR ICONS i need to get on that

It is a totally awesome opening, and FF8 had some of my favorite music in the whole franchise. :D But yeah, the game itself is definitely not for everyone. Along with the requisite plotholes and random characterization typical for an FF (although in some cases, FF8 is even worse about this than the others) the system can take some work to get used to, since it's one of those things where you level up and your enemies level up with you. And leveling up can screw you over later if you do it too much. An getting good spells and stuff requires a lot of tedious grinding to draw them from enemies. But I dunno, I liked it. :B it can be super frustrating though wooo
