I know you are, you insane people, that's how I never keep up with you because despite all the training I'm still not getting the whole how-to-talk-to-people thing... So it's good that you're linking here because camping fic, O MY GOD.

Well, camping is the second half. The first is boys being ridiculous. And pining. Lots of pining. But, uh. Yeah, I totally tend to forget I even have an LJ, these days...

Tumblr communication is still a bit annoying, but there are asks and fanmail, and if you do get into an actual conversation with someone, I often take it to email. And if you just want to comment on a post, then you can either add a caption directly to the post, or you can put it in the tags... There are ways! And you can reply to text posts, and... In terms of communication, it's definitely worse than LJ, but the reblogging concept is superior, so... :/

Well, I'm going to force my square peg into that round tumblr hole for a while and see where it gets me (nothing if not porny...). I have been, as you may have noted, *crossposting* (but goodness me, that is a pain in the arse to do). I still can't remember the difference between asks and fanmail. Both seem to have a character limit, but an ask includes the sent message and a fanmail doesn't? And you have to follow someone to send fanmail?

Also I'm saying camping because it's the camping that stayed in my head. But really, the writing is so lovely in this one, sort of taut, and the atmosphere is so dreamy, and the pov so tight that even *I* was starting to have my doubts and thought, oh no, she's going to do unhappy ending and angst... Phew.

Also, you take conversations to email? Now I'm you with LJ: email? I totally tend to forget that I even have a Lobelia email account, these days... *gg*

Hehe. I love that you're trying! Go you! Although I do imagine that crossposting, yeah, ugh. I never had the stamina (harrharr) for that.

Difference ask vs. fanmail: Fanmail is always signed, no anon messages, and you need to have been following the blog in question for at least 2 weeks. Then there's not character limit (I think). Asks have character limit for the person asking. And you see what you reply to, and if you receive an answer, you get a copy of your question.

Camping!fic! Someone on AO3 described it as "so often, it feels like the main character is just stupid and blind, whereas this, it felt like with the tiny clues, it was subtle enough that it was me being let in on a secret, rather than the main character being kept away from common knowledge." Which is precisely what I wanted to achieve!

Email, yes! Everything long and involved is email for me. It allows for private discussions, which don't work with LJ!

Also I still don't understand *why* one would want to reblog...?

It's kinda like a) this is cool, I want this on my blog and think my followers should see it, and b) I totally want to add my tag commentary to this. It... only makes sense once you've started to immerse yourself in the Tumblr way of thinking, possibly...
