What happened to fandom?

It seems to me that fandom (and I don’t mean just Merlin) is particularly quiet this Christmas break, much more so than I remember from previous years. Discussion isn’t as lively, the number of new stories is fairly low, and the ones that are posted get fewer comments than you’d expect. If it isn’t just coincidence, there are two reasons I can think of at the top of my head.

1. The crisis has made people want to spend more time with family and friends, and maybe some are also working harder than they did before, or putting more efforts into their studies.

2. Fandom is going through a transition period. With beautiful projects like Dreamwidth and Archive of Our Own, fandom is less simple than it was when it was all Livejournal and you knew where to find everything and everyone.

We’ll see. I do hope the pace picks up again, though! ...or am I just imagining things?

ETA: Oh, I almost forget: Agent Provocateur (Panic; Brendon/Ryan, Jon/Spencer; R; AU with spies and superpowers) has been re-uploaded to my Archive of Our Own account. It's missing all the italics and doesn't look very pretty, but hey.
