Yikes...Earthquake and Tsunami...

Just heard about the magnitude 8 earthquake off the coast of Alaska/Canada and subsequent tsunami alert. Thoughts and prayers with Alaska and Canada and everyone else possibly affected. Stay safe y'all.

The warnings being issued were very scary. But thankfully, it wasn't as bad as it might've been. I was very relieved to wake up to the news that there had been only a few small waves.

I was really relieved to wake up this morning to this news. The warnings were all quite scary when I went to bed last night!

Tides and wave heights were all low. We're fine here, and up the coast things are okay, too. Thanks for thinking of us!

Thank goodness! The initial warnings were quite scary, but luckily the plates had shifted sideways, not up/down (apparently, according to the news here in Oz) which is why the region didn't get a devastating tsunami like the one in Japan. I went to bed quite worried about y'all last night and was very relieved to wake up to the good news!

Yes, absolutely! I live very close to the sea and every time I hear about a tsunami I think about moving to the mountains! :)

Yes. Two volcanic eruptions yesterday...and there was also quite a big earthquake (magnitude 6) off the coast of Java (Indonesia) around the same time -- all of which I heard about when I woke up this morning!
It sounds like the Ring of Fire was having a Very Bad Day yesterday!
Luckily, there don't seem to have been any deaths, which is a relief.
