and your october dreaming

(this is incomplete)

we are making a full body like wine
you never used to drink
and I can make a sermon of your eyes.

we have taken down the miles on trains,
chatting toothless voices
in my head, I have learned to leave behind,

faded blister of the hour and trust we lost.
shored up with lego bricks:
what we admit when brushing palm to palm,

soft focus hearts are more than side by side.
our time still slipping
just off sync, so I try to catch your eyes,

spider web you, how I read you long ago.
now are different pages,
ending awaiting, all the phrases psalmed,

arching over. for you crazy that English
singer said I'm tired,
in truth it was her fear telling lies.

conkers on apartment carpet, all the stains
of what is falling,
dusk descending, who knows what we'll find.

that playground tree our oldtime kisses haunt
it frames your every line,
and warmth of years gone brings the dawn skies.

poems, poetry, love
