belated 2010 retrospective

Questions stolen from Keane music.

1. Favourite album of 2010
I didn't listen to nearly as much new music as I would have liked due to economic restraints. I liked Blitzen Trapper's new album, and Summer House by Gold Motel, but I'd probably have to say Joe Pug's Messenger just because the lyrical richness will stay with me, particularly How Good You Are

2. Favourite single?
Goodbye England (Covered in Snow) - Laura Marling. Makes me hurtingly home-sick, and full of love.

3. Best gig you saw?
Adam Lambert at Enmore just because it was the most up and down concert I have ever seen and the finale of If I Had You was out of control.

5. Best film you saw?
I thought Black Swan was terrifically nuts, Toy Story 3 made me cry, The Kids Are Alright had the best acting hands down, but my favourite is still The Road.

6. Best journey you made?
Pilgrimage of Trust to the Philippines. The rest of my year seems to shrink in proportion to the intensity of that trip.

7. Best TV show you watched?
Mad Men.

8. Best meal you ate?
Weirdly - the vegetarian lunch option on the first day of the formal Taize meeting, because I had been forced out of politeness and necessity to eat meat for about a week and a half and it was the biggest relief to have a plate full of veges without any dead flesh on there.

9. Best book you read?
Falling Man by Don DeLillo

10. Best thing you bought yourself?
Gilead by Marilynne Robinson - it restored my faith somewhat.

11. Best thing someone else bought for you?
A rice cooker!

12. Best website you visited?
Bitch Magazine .

14. Best thing that happened in 2010 for you?
Having another story published in the Usyd Anthology.

15. Finally, what are you looking forward to in 2011?
Being more independent, and maybe writing something that could be properly published.
