Mockingjay Part 2

I saw Mockingjay in its opening weekend and I went into the cinema with the lowest expectations ever, lol. I think that had a lot to do with the fact that I read one of the reviews for the screenings and it said book fans will not like how the movie was handled. I honestly don't know what book that person was reading, if they read the book at all, but it exceeded the amount of book material I thought they were even going include in it.
Here are a few of the major things I thoroughly enjoyed about it (a lot are Katniss/Peeta related lol) or were of particular note:
*SPOILERS*
1. The morphlings. WTF. Creepy-ass, Neferi-like, psycho bastards. I had to look away during Finnick's death because I could not see him get devoured by those things.
2. Finnick's final moments of badassery. It was literally two seconds of awesome, and then 2 whole minutes of excruciating, gut-wrenching nausea.
3. Lots of quiet moments. People I talked to didn't like this aspect. Some said they fell asleep over it. I enjoyed it a bit because I much preferred it over Katniss' monologues in the book, or book details regarding how depressing this time and these trials are.
4. Gale's role in Prim's demise. For book readers, we all knew the link between Katniss' separation from Gale, and why any future with them would be difficult, with potential for great resentment. I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise that they spent as long on it as they did since they placed a great emphasis on Gale and her relationship than they did in the book. I suppose this scene, and the many other ones I was fond of in the book made it to the film because they split it into 2 films.
5. "We protect each other." This scene, as well as "Stay with me", surprised me. I thought they wouldn't add more material in there that wasn't canon, but wow, it made me squeee. Damn, I wasn't expecting that awesome kiss to wake up Peeta. Loved it.
6. Annie's letter. So, so happy they added that in there. It started my tears up again :( The fact that they read it while cooking together made it so much more meaningful.
7. "Real, not real?" Ugh. Just ugh. This is one of my biggest take-aways from the book. I think it's the same for a lot of people. Everything related to this in the film was gold.
