6.01 Exile on Main Street

Oct 02, 2010 14:05

I've watched Exile on Main Street twice, I know total geekdom, but I find myself to excited on the first go to pick up anything other than what is readily apparent on the first viewing. My own agendas often get in the way. Like when's Dean going to reunite with Sam? Why isn't there more Dean and Sam moments?
You get the idea.

Slight Spoilers ahead... )

What a wonderful review. I think it sheds light on why the premiere might have been underrated. It was a very delicate show and tell, the only set back is what you mentioned: the "show" part of it was exclusively Dean's. Sam is, once again, filtered through Dean's experiences.

This

His speech to Dean about letting Dean have a normal life because that's what Dean's always wanted points to the fact that Sam believes himself to be an albatross around Dean's neck. It's also the only time Sam shows something of a normal emotional reaction, this is also one of two times in this episode that Sam seems remotely at ease with his surroundings.

and this

The Campbells on the other hand puzzled me until I realized that they didn't know Sam before his descent so they are not judging him like Dean is doing through out this episode. They have nothing to go on but how Sam is now so he doesn't have to put a show on for them not like he's doing for Dean.

are wonderful arguments.

As a fan I wanted more Sam and Dean moments, something more brotherly ( ... )

Thank you for commenting this has made my day. Sorry if I haven't replied until now I'm going through a intense descipleship program at my church only two hours of t.v. or internet each week. I keep telling myself it's only four weeks.

I wanted to write something that rebutted all the negative reviews I was reading and am pleased if I accomplished that.

Thank you again for commenting I treasure each one. :-)

It was my pleasure. Oh, don't worry! I've been busy as well with school (I haven't studied for a test in a while, lol), so I understand having limited Internet time. That's great about the program at your Church!

You certainly accomplished that.

You're very welcome. ♥ It was an amazing post/review.
