wrong.

an open 'letter' to all those who believe that Maine and New York made the right decisions, and that Iowa, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Washington, D.C. made the wrong ones:

to put it simply, if you oppose equal marriage, YOU ARE WRONG.

there is absolutely no harm that would be done in allowing two consenting, non-blood-related adults of the same sex to be married.

it will not change the definition of your marriage.

it will not force you to get a divorce from your spouse and marry someone of the same sex.

it will not require you or your religious center of choice to endorse, recognise, or perform same-sex ceremonies.

it will not require you to attend or enjoy same-sex weddings.

it will not require you to teach your children that homosexuality is OK or that you approve of it.

it will not at all lead to legal bestiality, pedophilia, or any of the other crazy scenarios you have thought up.

the only thing that it will change is it will allow millions of loving couples to have all the same rights and responsibilities you have enjoyed for years.

however, if equal marriage is finally enacted and allowed in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, and DOMA is repealed, it will still not mean you aren't a homophobic bigot for opposing it.

and that's what you are if you oppose equal marriage. nothing more than a bigot.

go fuck yourselves.
