Cotton Candy Pop Rocks (nuffsaid!verse ficlet. backdated a few years)
(ooc: ficlet idea I had earlier today. Characters used are Nori zapcracklepop, Jamie Madrox uptonogod with brief references to a few others played by friends. Used w/o permission so they're being used gently and hopefully properly. If not, please hit me. OOC Comments please.)
"MADROX YOU JACKASS! GIVE THOSE BACK!"
Jamie ran from the shout as quickly as he could, looking both amused and worried at the same time. The seventeen year old boy had just done something that was classified as idiotic by most and horrible by one. He had stolen Noriko Ashida's Cotton Candy Pop Rocks. Right from her gauntletted hand. He didn't have any intention of eating them. He was just bored and needed something to do and this was always a bad combination.
He ran as fast as he could through the halls of Xaviers, classmates ducking out of the way as he shouted "MOVE! OUT OF MY WAY! TO THE SIDE!" But he wasn't fast enough. Even without the extra energy, Nori was close behind him, eyes sparking blue as she followed James through the mansion. Down steps, through the kitchen, around the Hedge Maze and back inside where Nori caught up to him, her gauntletted hands on her hips and her lungs working to inhale and exhale properly.
Jamie had slipped on some water and gone sprawling on the ground, the blue packet of Pop Rocks still in his hand.
"You gonna....give those back or...what?" Nori said, trying to even out her breathing. As pissed off as she was, she was smiling slightly. She glanced up at Jesse and Josh who had decided to sit on the steps and watch the scene before them with much interest. Jesse even had a bag of popcorn and the boys were sharing.
Nori looked at Jamie again, who was getting up carefully.
"They're my Pop Rocks now...Surge," Jamie said, breathing just as hard as Nori. Nori held up a hand, fingertips sparking wildly and Jamie rolled his eyes. "What ...are you gonna do? Zap me?" He snorted.
Josh, meanwhile, had looked at the situation and realized if Nori did in fact zap Jamie, Jamie and a dupe could come flying at him and Jesse. Very casually, Josh moved to the left, pushing Jesse to the right. Jesse moved once he, too, realized what could happen.
"I was just gonna threaten you but if you really want a zap," Nori said, throwing a relatively harmless shock at Jamie.
As the boys had predicted, two Jamies flew backwards a few feet, landing with a thud and an 'ooof!' on the carpeted stairs. They dropped the Pop Rocks, something Nori considered a win. She picked her candy up and smiled, heading up the stairs and waving at Jesse as she passed. Jesse waved at Nori before smacking Jamie...or was it a dupe? in the back of the head. This caused another Duplicate to appear, Jamie reaching his hands out to reabsorb his doubles.
"Don't steal her candy, Jamie. Thats just dumb." Josh spoke, shaking his head with a small smirk on his face.
"Yes, yes it is," Jamie said, rubbing his chest slightly.
