Movie Review
LAND OF THE LOST - ok, I loved this show on saturday morning tv, it was one of my favorite shows, so why wouldn't the movie be good? The commercials looked corny but then again the show was corny back in the 70's. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS MOVIE! It is not just corny, but down right stupid! Did the writers ever watch the original series?
I am typically not a huge fan of comedy's to begin with and this movie reinforces my non-love of comedies. Wil Farrell, I never found funny and this movie reinforces that for me. My issues with this movie begin with the characters, Rick Marshall, Holly Marshall, and Will Marshall, Holly and Will being the children of Rick. That was the characters in the original, the movie on the other hand has the same first names, yet they are not related. Rick and Holly are scientists and Will is a tour guide in a cave which takes them to this other world. The next issue is the amount of sex jokes in the movie. How is a wholesome Sid and Marty Kroft series have so much sex? That is not Land of the Lost as I know it! The dinosaurs are well done as well as the sleestak's (except for the four mouths they have). The concept of the crystals are taken from the show and remain consistent - sort of. Bottom line - they took many of the original concepts from the TV show, but the writers tried to modern day the show into a movie of 2000's. Poor writing and poor acting.
Oh, just got to the point where they made Einik into a bad guy - that is something I don't remember from the original. AND just came to the best part of the movie - Rick Marshall (Will Farrell) was just eaten by the T-Rex. Ok, this is like Scream - the best part of that movie was when Drew Barrymore was killed. Oh shit - Rick was just shit out - dammit! And now Grumpy is friends with Rick - wtf!
