Reply to this post and I will pick five of your userpics for you to talk about in your journal.
liketheroad picked out these five for me to explain (or .... try to? ^^).
Ahaha. I'm pretty sure this is my sole surviving Prince of Tennis icon. Well, sort of PoT. It's both the usefulness of that particular imagery in fandom life, and the connection to the crackiness that is PoT that I love.
GAMBIT!!! I have this icon for no other reason than .... GAMBIT. (...... shit, I should get a Gambit/Rogue icon)
Tbqh, the thing out of that list that I worry about the most day-to-day is ....... totally hair. Yeah. If you hadn't guessed by the frequency with which I change hair colour, I have a teeny tiny obsession with it.
This icon is a cropping (although barely so) of a Courtney Brims drawing called Foxy Lady. Her legs sort of look like a birch tree, and they're supposed to. Um. It doesn't have a particular meaning to me, except Courtney Brims does really cool fairytale-esque art with a bit of a twist, and this evokes that for me. Also I like foxes.
OOOOH. This is from an Alexej Alexejewitsch Harlamoff portrait. He has done quite a few interesting portrait paintings, and I especially love this one (regardless of my favourite icon maker using it as a base. I tagged it as "ponderous", and that's true, but her expression gives a hint of something more, and so does the peculiar shape of her shadow.
On that note, you should check
this out. I wish there were more. I'm lazy when doing research just for myself unfortunately. Someone tell me to research Eastern European portraiture of women in art.
