Last night was the anniversary of the Walpurgisnacht attacks. I remember that when I was six or so, my parents took me to the places that had been burnt down in Newent, and then to see the memorial plaque in the main square. Then my Mum said she decided that night to never have children, because nobody deserved to live in a world like that.
My parents's families aren't from Newent, either of them. My Mum's family lives in Gloucestershire, though, so they saw the fires from home. My grandfather and his neighbours worked all night in their pajamas to put out the fires. When my father heard this, he said they should live in Newent.
I reckon I should now say that we're lucky to stay in a place with this fancy security system, but we can't really have this security system in the whole country, right? Sod it.
Let's just keep on killing people, despite saying we won't. Do you hear me, Potter?
