new year's update

Christmas was lovely, as usual. Kind of a bummer with all the rain, and with Kyle being on the other side of the country, but it was great seeing all of my family. And almost miraculous that my grandparents - my dad's parents, anyways - made it to Christmas. It really made me appreciate it that much more.

New Year's Eve was fabulous - mmm mmm tasty lasagna at Amanda's apartment with the Hunt ladies plus Sarah, sexy party at Clarendon Ballroom with strong drinks, Julie dancing, a balloon drop at midnight, and the three of us getting hit on and making fun of the guys hitting on us even though they didn't realize it.

Best [Worst] Pickup Lines of the Night:
-Help us settle a debate - best song of 2006?
-Can I see some ID?
-So, your friend tells me you're single and from Florida.
-I feel like I'm babysitting. [*nods head towards drunk girls he was dancing with*]

Other Lines in Conversation:
-So, how old are you?
-Yeah, we get 400 TV channels but no PBS. It sucks.
-My bowtie lights up. [it didn't really - liar.]
-I was president of SAE at William and Mary.
-You know, everybody makes their own decisions... with their mind... so don't pretend like you don't... everybody uses that straw man...
-It might seem like it, but I'm not arrogant.

Also, I have some New Year's Resolutions. They may seem numerous, but these are really things I should be doing already.

1. Kill the debt. Again. It snuck up on me. No more eating out during the week, no more shopping, and no more putting anything on the credit cards.
2. Take better care of myself. This involves taking those daily vitamins that've been sitting in my kitchen cabinet but I never take, working out Tuesday and Thursday nights at the swanky gym I joined last week, and sitting up straight in my computer chair to help out my poor back.
3. Stop being chronically late to work. My boss has made it quite clear it won't be tolerated. I'm not in college anymore, I can't be late to things and think I can get away with it.

So, yes. A new year.
