"New" voters doesn't necessarily mean "young" voters. Probably a lot of older people who never gave a shit to vote before came out to vote for Obama.

It's not generational or racial, it has been and always will be a religious matter.

yeah, the ranting about the African American vote was WAY outta control. and it's true the older folks voted heavily for prop 8 vs. young folks, but i would continue to worry about organized religion and their continued efforts against this.

someone noted how Mormons and Catholics really need this kind of wedge issue to consolidate/energize their base given their own less than savory reputations/moral authorities (i.e. child abuse and polygamy), plus the fundies who have a huge young voting block.

the more i think about it the more enraged i get. doing the math -- 10% of the voting pool certainly isn't *THE REASON* this thing passed.

someone from the campaign came and spoke at the milk club last night and also said that many of the African Americans she exit polled got it mixed up -- they thought they were supporting gay marriage by voting yes.
