I thought I'd update folks on my mother's goings-on.
She got home from the hospital Friday (the 28th) evening, all well and good. I finally found out, when talking to her Thursday afternoon, that it was nothing major. The chemotherapy drugs had killed too many white blood cells, so she had to go to the hospital for treatment. She wasn't allowed to go home until her white blood count had come back up. I was massively relieved, and knew I could sleep easier at night.
I finished my business in Chesterfield, and headed to another shopping mall to job hunt. I finished there, went to West County Mall, and filled out just one application.
This week my mom had dose 2 of chemotherapy, with a few more coming until middle to end of December, just before Christmas being the last one. She is doing fine, but her hair is starting to go, and my dad and I will have to be very careful when her immune system gets that curveball from the chemotherapy drugs, just like last time, so that she doesn't end up in the hospital again.
So, my mother's doing all right for now. I'm running her errands and doing her shopping so she doesn't have to go out and risk getting sick. My health insurance expired at the end of August, so right now I have no health insurance and if I have to get any treatment I'd basically incur a massive amount of debt just to see a doctor, go to the emergency room, or whatever might happen. Fortunately I'm healthy enough to not have to see any doctor right away; I finished physical therapy in July, and don't need to see my orthopedist, so that's fine. Really the only thing I'd want to have any sort of financial help medical-wise is seeing my chiropractor. She charges $55 or so for a visit by an uninsured patient, which is very reasonable, but being unemployed, I can't go every time I need to see her. So, I'm still job hunting, filling out applications, and hoping I will get something.
