Journal for Swallow...

I figured my journal has been shamefully neglected, so I decided to post an entry. :) There's not much going on with me at the moment - still trying to finish uni - but here's a journal entry I wrote for Swallow when I couldn't get my head around my uni work. :) It's meant to be a bit of fun, not serious, in case that's not clear. :P ( Read more... )

Hehe, I used beastly on purpose - it amuses me as well. =P And thanks for the suggestion - I think I will ff.net it. =D

It is rather Swallow/Elf isn’t it? =P Admittedly, the Swallow/Elf aspect was no accident - I thought it would be fun to imagine how Swallow felt about their first real meeting, and I always felt that her independence and spunk appealed to him. (And I used spunk on purpose, both because Swallow used it, and because I love that word in that context. =P)

But I maintain that it’s essentially canon, albeit with a slightly exaggerated slant to it - a section of TSK and all of the Swallow/Elf bits in Ashling made me see it this way - mostly from Swallow’s perspective, but also a little from Elf’s. =P

Consider:
“Louis gave me a knowing look. ‘So that’s th’ way of it then. That Swallow.’
I stared at him in bewilderment for a minute, then realised what he was implying. Opening my mouth to give him the sharp edge of my tongue, I had a sudden clear vision of Swallow, leaning forward to kiss me after rescuing me.

‘Why did you do that,’ I had demanded, shocked.
‘Because I wanted to,’ he had answered with a handsome, sardonic smile that had thrilled me, though I would never have admitted it at the time.

I wondered if Swallow even remembered that kiss. [...] I knew that Swallow had spoken of me to the seers among his people, and though he had never told me what they said, these days, when we met, he was always very stern and serious and I wondered if I had not preferred the devilish gypsy who looked at me with admiration and kissed me without permission.” (TSK, 36-37)

hehe, I wasn't criticising its canon-ness, I find it very plausible. I think Swallow would have been a bit of a Lothario back then bfore his dad kicked it. :D
I did think the language was a bit...serious for Swallow at that time. But maybe that's just me. :D
Heheh, I loved that bit with Louis. As muhc as I loved the bit with Merret and Gilbert. Finally Elkf is being called out on her skanking around. :P

I'm glad you agree that the idea is plausible - I didn't really think you meant that it wasn't, but I was a little concerned that someone might see it that way, so my defense mechanism took over. =P

And I absolutely agree on the Lothario thing - some of his comments certainly support that theory! ;)

And you're probably right about the language being a bit serious, although I was trying to keep it PG, so I didn't want to have him think anything too risque, plus I was trying to keep it within the realms of how they speak in the Oberverse... =P

And I agree on the bit with Louis, and the bit with Merret and Gilbert - and I love how she went all quiet and distracted when Louis made the implication - nothing like looking sus! Hehe. And she didn't say anything to Merret, either! =P

Rofl, what was that thing Dani said on CO? "Swallow thinks Elf is one spunky chick, and would tap that." I think that'd be awesome if he sauid that. LMAO.

And lol, I understand the defensiveness, i get like that too. I gte like that on the Ober threads especially. *looks shifty* Many a newbie has fallen victim to my wrath. Especially the newbies that suggest Tom Felton for Ariel. *stabs*

Hehe, is that defensive or offensive? =P And I completely understand not wanting Tom Felton - he's both ugly and a terrible actor... *looks shifty*

Oh, and I just realised, did you also mean serious in the sense of not demonstrating enough of a sense of humour? Because I appreciate a good sense of humour, but I find it hard to write... =S

Hehe, and I love that line of Dani's - but somehow I don't think it's quite in keeping with the Oberverse lingo. =P But feel free to write something using that line - I know I'd enjoy reading it! =D

Hmm, no, I didn't mean more humourous, I mostly meant I thought his language would be a bit less formal, and more flippant and flirty. I think before he had to beocme the D'Rekta, he was a bit like those boys up the back of the class who never tak much seriously, and giggle when the teacher says soemthing remotely obscene.
But maybe that's just me. :)
