2005 Year in Review

Dec 28, 2005 17:59

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?

Shit, I've done a lot of stuff this year that I've never done before. Probably the most notable is spending the majority of Christmas away from home. We had our own Christmas this year and it turned out really well.. And, I'm not living with a house full of dudes anymore. I don't play foos all night and do my term papers at 4am. Although, I could go for a good game of foosball.

And I went to the biggest damn concert ever this summer.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I don't even remember my New Years resolutions from last year... Its hard to say whether or not I adhered to them. If I told myself that I was going to bring my marks up, which is possible, I succeeded. Mostly.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

No..

4. Did anyone close to you die?

No one that close. I knew a guy killed this fall in a car accident.. Really great guy, one of the funniest people I've ever had the privilege of calling a friend and classmate.

5. What countries did you visit?

Just this one. Made it as far as Moncton this year.

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?

I want a job in Halifax. I have no interest in going back to work at Michelin this coming summer, however, the money is great there.. I wish there was a way to make my illegit moving business semi-permanent and profitable.

7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

Probably moving into our own place in the middle of the night through the window.. =)

I enjoyed camping; I always have and always will.. But this year I'll remember ripping around in a Scirocco that didn't belong to me... And exploding in the middle of the night, screaming at some drunken idiot and burning whatever it was that he was reading so loudly.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

I got my first university A.

9. What was your biggest failure?

I only got one.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Nothing that wasn't imaginary/made-up for personal benefit. I had the common cold once or twice.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

My truck, by far. So much fun.. Not that traveling to work going 225km/h wasn't fun, being able to go where no GTI has gone before is as cool as it gets.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

I kicked shift work's ass all summer long... Me.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Won't name names.

14. Where did most of your money go?

This was the year of "I'd like to place an order for delivery" Enough said.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

I was really excited in the weeks leading up to the Stones roadtrip, for Spring Break cottage-ing, and for moving back to Halifax at the end of summer.

16. What song will always remind you of 2005?

The Rolling Stones - The Worst (Keith Richards on vocals)

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder? definitely happier.

ii. thinner or fatter? the same.

iii. richer or poorer? probably poorer, but its all good.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Spent more time with close friends... I probably could have benefited from more study time as well, but, you know how it is.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Worked alot this summer again. It wasn't worth it.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

I spent Christmas with Kate and my family. We arrived at my family's house at 8 or 9pm Christmas Eve, arrived back in Halifax the morning of the 26th. It was our Whirlwind Christmas tour wherein I managed to see the majority of my family, including several family members I don't see very often anymore.

22. Did you fall in love in 2005?

Every day.

23. How many one-night stands?

Zero.

24. What was your favorite TV program?

I watch the Daily Show every day. I get pissed when it is a repeat, which probably means it’s my favorite... But I enjoyed Prison Break and all of the CSI's this year, even CSI:NY because I think Gary Sinise is badass. The OC wasn't as good as I remember it.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Nope, no one new.

26. What was the best book you read?

Honestly, I don't know.. None?

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Probably Alexisonfire. See, everyone liked them years ago, everyone but me. I didn't care for all the screaming.. They've toned down the screaming BS and I enjoy listening to them now.

28. What did you want and get?

A nice apartment with everything we wanted.

And a toolbox.. This is beyond filled now with tools...

29. What did you want and not get?

A flashlight for Christmas.. I had to get it myself with my Christmas loot.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?

Batman Begins

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I spent my birthday in Halifax with Kate. My phone didn't ring, My MSN didn't beep and I had no cake. Brent arrived on the scene the next day and we righted things downtown... righting things with alcohol sure beats righting things other ways. I turned 21.

32. What is one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

"Corey, I'm sorry but you're fired from Michelin, you'll have to go spend the rest of your summer on the beach" OR straight As

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?

Whatever is warm in the winter.

And I'm usually advertising a band or a label...

34. What kept you sane?

the bob marley

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

all of them

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

The Sponsorship Scandal. Blown way out of proportion by the three parties not in government to bring down a long standing and productive government.

And I still don't agree with the Anti-American sentiment that Canadians seem to be embracing... Someone told me that was part of our national identity? Not my Canada...

37. Who did you miss?

I was too busy to miss anyone.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

Dave

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005:

If someone new joins your work crew, and you immediately recognize them to be a total idiot, I suggest distancing yourself ASAP before that person screws up and you get blamed for it.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

Madness! Madness!

This is pure madness that we're talking about

Pure madness all the time now

This is pure madness that we're talking about

And I can't believe they wanna do it again
