Deer in the pasture

I had a wonderful experience this morning. After milking the cats and feeding the birds, I was walking back to the garage when I noticed something moving in the upper pasture. We have put the boys down by the barn because they are getting way too fat on the grass in the upper pasture, so I knew it wasn't them. Anyway....I saw this movement and turned to see a beautiful slender deer walking across. She stopped to look at me and wasn't fearful until she heard the dog barking. He had heard me talking to the deer and wanted out of the shop. She continued to walk across and didn't get too excited. She stopped again to look at me and then decided the dog noise was too close and trotted off.

I like mornings that!

On the bird front - The crows have stayed to nest again. I can tell because they are coming down to feed with the rest of the birds. The Towhees are back and the Stellar jays are having fits when the crows come. The mourning doves are again coming in droves. They are so beautiful and I love the cooing. *smile* AND! I have black capped chickadees! We've never had them stay before. They are even eating the seed! That is so exciting. They are SOOO small!

I'm also feeding the rabbits. They have become very brave and are feeding close to the house. There is one that seems to like me. He/She doesn't run as fast or as far away from me as the other ones do. He/She must be getting used to me. Even when I have cats around my ankles!

My mornings and evenings are filled with beautiful birdsong. I am happy.
