You - you made me cry for Illyria! And John, but he's angsty, and human.

Not with a bang, but a whimper.

It's a melancholy ending. *sniff* But just as the universe tires out, so do John and Illyria.

Hee. You make John sound like a temperamental 13-year-old girl who listens to too much emo rock.

We can look at the positive side! According to what Illyria said in Part 1 of the first epic, they only cease existing when a new world crawls its way into being. Don't ask me where they are now, though. Maybe they're renting a room in Heaven after doing so much good for so long. Depends upon your version of the afterlife - an alternate dimension a la Buffy, or a completely different plane of metaphysical existence that in no way touches reality in any way, shape or form. If it's Buffy, they're screwed because everything just went poof so there's nowhere to go. If it's the other, they have a chance to see The Boys and their kids.

I found this around eleven o clock tonight, and spent until 3 am reading. This whole verse is fabulous. I love that you gave it an end, as well - it must be difficult to wrap up a series, but there is something very important in the acceptance of an end. Of a longing for an end.
Eh. Maybe I'm rambling on, it being so late in the evening, but from all the hints throughout the story, I wasn't expecting a perfect ending. There couldn't be a 'and they lived happily ever after' vague platitude, because their eternity was such an important part in John's insanity/sanity. Anyway. I hope you have more fic - I'll be hunting it down tomorrow when I've had some sleep and I can keep my eyes open!

I'm amazed you managed to slog through this epic in one go! *applause* I would've fallen asleep somewhere in the middle of Part 1, especially if I started after 11:00. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! It makes me happy that other people like John/Illyria craziness, too. Thank you for the kind words!

I've been considering doing one with Dean and Illyria since Dean's heading to hell soon. Not as epic as John's, but meeting in Hell might be interesting. She could mention how she met his father there before he disappeared one day.

Oh. Just, oh. I read this whole series from beginning to end -- any and all pairings involving Illyria are my crack, and this is just amazing.

I write an Illyria in about eight billion separate timelines over at perfectblue and she's been paired up with some interesting people over the years. This epilogue reminds me ever so vaguely of this ficlet I wrote ages back.

Anyway, this was incredible. Thank you for writing it.

Thank you! Since Dean is in Hell for the summer, I've been thinking about doing a version with Dean and Illyria meeting up and playing poker, discussing John (since she met him while he was hanging out there. Hee. Hanging out. Geddit?), and having a grand time.

I'm interested in reading your story, but I'm leaving for vacation in a short while so I'll check it out when I get back!
