Author's Notes: Thank you to kenaressa  for beta-ing! This is a twist on how Sam got Dean back from Hell, based on the myth of Isis and Osiris.

I can imagine Sam doing some dark things to suceed in this.

So does this mean that it's really Dean? Or is Dean's real soul still suffering in Hell?

There won't be any more of this; it was a one-shot. As for Dean's soul, I'm leaving it up to the reader if it is or it isn't. Personally, I'm following the Isis analogy. Osiris' penis was gone, so she had to make an entirely new one. Dean's soul was gone, so Sam had to make a new one...though he used a familiar totem to tie into it, to bring it personal meaning. In the backstory, I like to think Sam melted down the original, added what he needed to, before he reforged it into the same shape, so it carried part of Dean with it.

I tried to stick to show as much as I could, and Dean's amulet always looked like bronze, to me.

This was very interesting! I remember reading Egyptian myths back in high school and being very intrigued and this was really well done. Concise and attention grabbing!

I liked the idea of there being a missing piece Sam had to reconstruct before he could get Dean back.
