Head...spinning....

I know it was a two hour finale, but honestly, that first hour is kinda *waves*waaaaay over there right now. Crowley steals Ben and Lisa, refers to Sam as "Jolly Green", Dean rescues them, then has Castiel erase all their memories of him, although that will do absolutely nothing to protect them. Dean is highly damaged, yep yep. Now on to the really juicy stuff. Castiel destroyed the wall in Sam's head!!! Gaaahhh!!! I've given Castiel a lot of leeway on the stuff he's done in the name of defeating Raphael, but that's too far.

Souled Sam! Soulless Sam! Hell Sam! Wow, that was some great acting from Jared. He got to play heroic, dangerous, and damaged victim all in the same character; most of the time two at once. Soulless Sam was downright frightening. When he was striding through the forest calling out "Come out, come out, wherever you are,"--uber-creepy. Hell Sam I expected to be far more torn up physically("flayed" pops to mind), but Jared hiding in the shadows, the way he carried himself, and the way he used his voice gave a better impression(than the makeup did) of just how broken he was.

As for the rest...OW, I think I have whiplash from trying to keep track of all the double- and triple-crossing.

The approaching demon cloud was awesome. They toyed with us for a second there, the sound of giant footsteps hinted at a high cheese factor drawing near; an actual Really Big Thing would've put the show squarely in "jump the shark"/SyFy movie territory. But no! Instead it was an army of demons--and flipping the Impala actually made me gasp.

I love Sam. He held it together to stagger all the way across Nebraska(or maybe he borrowed a car from Bobby's lot) and sneak up on an angel-cum-god and stab him in the back to save Dean. Although I suppose Castiel knew he was there, but didn't pay him any mind, as he knew he couldn't be harmed. Sam's going to be a bit of a mess early on next season, I believe. Right now he's kind of a piece of delicate stemware, riddled with cracks, barely still whole. Actually, I expected the big cliffhanger to be Sam as a puddle on the floor, his future uncertain; rather than Castiel's "I am your new god. Kneel before me." At least Bobby is still alive.

In conclusion, awesome finale. Intense, edge-of-your-seat stuff. Season Seven looks like it'll involve the guys trying to save Castiel from himself, Sam struggling to control his memories of Hell(unless Castiel decides to keep his word to heal him), Dean repairing the Impala, and Crowley trying to figure out a new survival plan. If they could work Chuck or Gabriel into any of these scenarios I would be a truly happy camper.
