Late to the party

Just a quick reaction here, because I've just now finished watching the ep, after getting off work at ten.

--Another David Bowie song this season; unexpected, but not unwelcome. Where, I wonder, are they getting the dough for Bowie songs? That can't be cheap. What was the song on the jukebox at the end, though? I know that I know it, I just can't recall the title or artist. Interesting that they tied together with a "believing in miracles" theme. Hmmmm.

--Lenore! Loved seeing her again. That was a very interesting exchange she had with Sam. Begging him to kill her, only to have him, horrified, refuse and actually give her a pep talk. If Sam ever gets out of hunting, he should look into becoming a counselor. Sam Winchester, monster therapist. Hee! Oh, and I had to giggle at Dean's glee as he recounted how Sam decapitated Gordon.

--Chalk up another episode where I want to smack Dean upside the head. I understand he's had his fill of working for the bad guy, and there's no guarantee Eve would hold up her end of the deal, but you'd think he'd be more than happy to find Crowley and hand him over to her for his comeuppance. And I kinda think they might've been able to talk her around to resuming the status quo that she had been content with before. She certainly seemed like the most honest creature they've dealt with in a while. They got some excellent info from her.

--Bravo Samantha Smith for a great job as Eve. That was definitely no Mary Winchester.

--Dean named the hybrids Jefferson Starships. Oh Dean. That's so you. And I find it quite funny that Sam, despite obviously thinking that was a lame monster name, immediately went along and started using it.

--Also hilarious in their lameness: the cars they "borrowed" to get around. Nothing like a mid-80s sedan for cruising around town posing as federal agents. Heh.

--Maybe I'm the only one who didn't see it coming, but I didn't figure the kid was the latest model hybrid. When she started talking about it being with them "all this time" I thought maybe she'd replaced Castiel.

--Speaking of Castiel. He is a desperate angel, isn't he? I'm really curious how he came to be working with Crowley, and how he apparently killed the guy but actually didn't. So, did they cut a deal to divvy up the souls in Purgatory when they find it? Half to power Castiel's war in Heaven, half to fuel Crowley's rule in Hell?

--Something to ponder: Dean's still screwing up the natural order, isn't he? He killed Eve, so now what happens to all the monsters in the world? Is it now going to be a "mom's out of town, let's partaayyy!!!" attitude for creatures? Purgatory now has no head honcho, who'll be gunning for that spot? Another up-and-comer no one's heard of yet?

--Lastly, I just want to say that the near-silent car ride scene was fantastic. The older brother looking out for his kid brother, and Sam and Dean each smiling to themselves at the memories that brought back for them. Awwww.

--Oh! Oh! I almost forgot! Sam has an iPad now! Must have a shiny new fake credit card and decided to get something special to break it in. ;D
