Apropros of nothing and out of the blue, I received this instant message from one of my team in the middle of the afternoon:
R. [2:27 PM]:
It will take 187500 bright plastic balls, at an approximate cost of $34,000 to fill up the [team's] area to 4' for an adult size ball pit.
I'm going to need a corporate spending account.
After a few moments, I responded:

i'm not sure how to broach this with you.
but i feel like maybe that money could be better used for a department giraffe.
