It is a sin to have sexual thoughts. To have sexual thoughts is the path towards Hell.
So is it reasonable that in order to be closer to God that one chooses to sever ties with his or her significant other?
Søren Kierkegaard, who himself was religious, questions the extent of faith in religion. Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son, Isaac, to prove his faith. But the angel Gabriel allows Abe to sacrifice a lamb instead. He passed the test but what if the angel had not appeared and Isaac slained?
Why does one have to choose between family, friends, love, and religion?
It's unfair.
