DVDs

Random rant points about DVD (covers).

Marketing for DVDs has changed into a giant cash cow. Five years ago, you would have only one option of buying a movie on DVD. One DVD would contain lots of extra stuff that the format is known for. But today I think it has gotten a little out of hand compounding that with the Blu-Ray format.

Check out The Dark Knight DVDs:

Single Disc: Widescreen or Full Screen

Extras: None

Two Disc Edition:

Extras: IMAX Scenes, Galleries, Trailers, etc

Blu Ray Two-Disc Special Edition

Extras: IMAX Scenes, Galleries, Trailers, Batman Unmasked, Behind the Story, Batman Tech

Blu-Ray Two Disc Limited Edition Batpod Giftset

To me it gets a bit redundant. Others may enjoy the selection but I don't. Another thing is the covers. Why are they using two different images? The single disc cover with the burning bat is awesome. But I want more in a DVD. But the latter editions uses a poor image for a cover. It looks sloppy and slapped on in seconds. Yes it works as a promotional poster but not as a cover. Now I'm stumped and will never figure out which edition to buy. Lol I'll buy swap the cover on the widescreen onto the blu ray one.

I really hate that light blue strip on blu ray dvds. It looks out of place and ruins covers.

<-- FIXED
How it SHOULD look.
(I hate heroes but the box is not bad looking)

Does it matt--YES IT MATTERS. If you're going to be sitting on my shelf you had better be good looking.
