Chapter 6

Jack sat at the breakfast bar tapping his fingers repeatedly and swinging his legs under his stool like an anxious child.

“He said twelve…it's half-past, I wonder if he got lost,” Jack thought, adjusting his white t-shirt.

Jack had spiked his hair up so it stood straight on end. He twisted one of the spikes with his fingers in anticipation.

Right then the door knocked.

Jack bolted off the stool and just about sprinted across the apartment, grabbing the door handle and flinging it open.

“Huh,” Jack said aloud as he looked out into the empty hallway.

“Boo!” Ennis said, springing from beside the door and grabbing Jack, causing Jack to flinch.

“Shit Ennis, what was that for?” Jack said, breathing deeply.

“Couldn’t resist, your too cute when you're all shocked and wide-eyed,” Ennis said, grinning.

Jack smiled momentarily.

“Don’t try and sweet talk your way out of this, you nearly gave me a fuckin’ heart attack,”
 Jack said, pouting.

“Sorry bud, didn’t mean no harm,” Ennis said, putting his hand on Jack's shoulder.

Jack shrugged Ennis's hand off.

“Well maybe you should leave, before you do anything else stupid.”

“Okay,” Ennis said, hurt, looking at his feet.

“I'll drop the clothes off tomorrow,” he added.

“Good idea,” Jack said angrily.

“Oh, and Ennis?” Jack shouted, as Ennis walked towards the lift.

“Huh?” Ennis asked, his voice breaking and his eyes welling up.

“I was just fuckin’ with ya, c’mere,” Jack giggled, his tongue protruding slightly as he smirked.

“Son of a bitch,” Ennis said, shaking his head and wiping his eyes, his frown turning into a slight grin as he walked back toward the apartment.

“Sorry bud, you're just too cute when you cry,” Jack said, mimicking Ennis’s voice.

“Shut up, Twist,” Ennis laughed, pushing Jack into the apartment, swinging the door shut behind them.

Ennis placed both hands on Jack's face and pulled him in for a soft but passionate kiss before releasing him.

“You should have seen your face,” Jack laughed.

“Wish I'd taken a photo,” he added, biting his bottom lip.

“Remind me never to shock you again,” Ennis chuckled.

Jack and Ennis sat down on the couch and sat for a while making small talk about Ennis’s day so far at the animal shelter.  Jack teasingly described to Ennis his morning shower.

“You wanna go somewhere?” Jack asked, sitting forward.

“Sure, where you thinking of?” Ennis replied.

“Just for coffee or something,” Jack said, standing up.

“I’ll just grab my coat,” he added.

The two of them stepped outside of the hotel into the cold wind. Jack was wearing only a thin hooded coat and Ennis was wearing a yellow water proof.

“I hate the cold,” Jack muttered.

“Wouldn’t be so bad if you was wearing a proper jacket,” Ennis said.

“Well at least I don’t look like a walking lemon,” Jack snickered.

“Hey, this is a good coat!” Ennis said, pulling at it.

“Yup, it's beautiful,” Jack said sarcastically.

“Shut up Twist,” Ennis laughed, starting to walk down the street, with Jack at his side.

“Make me,” Jack cheekily retorted.

“I will,” Ennis stated, smirking.

“How?” Jack asked, biting his lip.

“I'm gonna put something in that mouth of yours to stop ya,” Ennis chuckled.

“Right here?” Jack grinned.

“As soon as we get back to the apartment,” Ennis said, his smile broadening.

“Great, screw the coffee then. Can we go back now?” Jack said, pretending to turn back to the hotel.

Ennis suddenly pulled his jacket off and thrust it toward Jack.

“What… you realise how ugly that thing was?” Jack chuckled as Ennis tried to make him hold it.

“I don’t want it,” Jack laughed.

“Just hold the damn coat,” Ennis laughed.

Jack took the coat so it was covering his front.

“What’s the deal?” Jack asked.

“You got a pup tent,” Ennis laughed.

“Shit,” Jack said, looking down, reddening as he noticed his erection.

“Just hold that coat there until it's gone down and then no one will know,” Ennis grinned, shaking his head.

It wasn’t long before they arrived at the coffee shop.

“I’ve never been here,” Ennis said, looking intrigued.

“Yeah, it's pretty low key, but it's one of the few places where large mean large, small means small and you can order in English,” Jack laughed.

“Ahh good. I never understood all that mochafrappychino stuff,” Ennis said.

“Mocha what? I think you made that one up,” Jack said as they walked in.

They sat at a small table.  The room was pretty quiet but it was homely, with pictures hanging on the wall.

A middle aged woman came over with a note pad and took their order.

The waitress returned after a few seconds with a pot of coffee and two cups.

There was another couple in the coffee shop sitting at the far wall to Jack and Ennis.

The waitress went into the back to get something.

“Huh? Er, Jack what you doin'?” Ennis asked,d looking under the table at Jack's hand groping at his crotch.

Jack just laughed at him

“Jack, there are people here, it looks obvious,” Ennis stammered, biting his lip at the pleasure of Jack's hands squeezing his package.

Jack just carried on laughing.

Ennis grabbed Jack's hand and pushed it away, looking flustered.

“What if someone had seen, huh?” Ennis asked, looking about.

“Jesus Jack, not in a coffee shop,” Ennis laughed.

“How about an alley?” Jack asked, sticking his tongue out and winking.

“Shut up,” Ennis chuckled.

The two finished their coffee, before paying and leaving.

“So are we going back to my apartment?” Jack asked.

“Sure thing,” Ennis smiled.

“Actually, I'm at work at 10, and I really need to be at my apartment to get ready, you can come with me if you like?” Ennis asked.

“Definitely,” Jack smiled.

“It's not far, it's just across from where I work,” Ennis said, smiling.

They arrived at Ennis's apartment block.  Unlike Jack's, it was pretty small, only on two storeys.  There was no main building, just a row of doors that led straight into the rooms.

Ennis opened his, which read number 17.

The room was small and shabby, with wallpaper peeling in places, the carpet looking like it needed a good cleaning, books and clothes were strewn across the floor, plates filled the sink and the bed was unmade.  The room couldn't have been more different to Jack's if it tried.

“Sorry about the mess,” Ennis said uncomfortably.

“Are you kidding, I love it,” Jack said, falling back onto the unmade bed.

“Now, I do believe you were planning on putting something in my mouth to shut me up,” Jack smiled, licking his lips.

“C’mere,” he said, motioning for Ennis to join him on the bed.
