First sparring match in almost a year, with a girl from a rival university. She was a bit more experienced than me, physically stronger, and at the top of her game. I was rusty, far from my peak fitness, constantly worrying about my knee and just couldn't get into the rhythm of the fight. As you might expect, it did not end well for me. A sore arm, a clump of bruises on my right bicep (I'm tempted, but I will refrain of uploading a photo of that) and a kick direct to the underside of my jaw. Yeeeeooowwww. Chewing and yawning are going to hurt for a while.
I'm still too wary about re-injuring my knee to fight as aggressively as I used to. Yet, as crazy as it sounds, I can't wait to get back in the ring again. Wow I've missed sparring. I'd almost forgotten what an incredible thrill it can be. Although another ACL reconstruction surgery, six months of rehab and a few thousand dollars in medical bills might prove to be too high a price to pay...
Speaking of high prices...after my match I went to watch angela's live show. 98 dollars...ouch. But they were still awesome live, and I got to meet them again and come home with another autographed poster -- nicer than the one they gave out at AFA. So cool.
I might write up a proper account of the live later...right now my aching body is calling for my bed.
I'll end off by randomly bringing up how Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica is still awesome. I cannot believe I allowed myself to be misled into believing, even for a moment, that it was a generic magical girl anime...I've felt like I needed a hug after the end of each of the past few episodes. But aaaghh I have to know what happens next.
