Woohoo! Good to know you're still alive :)

Forums inspire wank unlike any other, don't they? It's funny as hell, but it gets tiring pretty quick - or such as been my experience. I can only take so much dramaz before I have to move on, intense hobby or not...so you're a better person than I for being able to stick around not one, not two, but three trainwrecks, LOL!!

Five or six days straight of work SUCKS ASS. I always hated receiving my schedule and seeing that, especially if the shifts weren't consistent. It messes with your sleep and makes you cranky and mad and frustrated and then on your days off, you can't do anything because you're so tired. I definitely do *not* miss working in retail...(though I have a nasty feeling I may end up there again in the latter half of '09).

As for writing, I appear to have moved out of my uber-productive phase that I enjoyed during the first half plus change of 2008. I'm still writing, but it's going slower now. I don't start five fics a day and finish the shortest ones within a month. ( ... )

Oh god, yes. I don't know how they do it--I'm exhausted just reading this shit. I mostly lurk every now and again, which I'm sure is my only saving grace.

I have open availability, so my shifts are NEVER consistent. And the job market is so horrendously bad around here...it was a miracle that I even got this job. And the last time I tried to talk to someone about unwelcome trends in my schedule...did not go well. I ended up with nearly two months of super early mornings and very little else. Granted, that was a different manager, but I don't think I could take it if the new one decided to prove a point on this score.

I get there, eventually. *shrugs* It never works quite like I want it to, but it generally turns out for the better in the end. I'm trying to let this be the one thing that's NOT stressing me out right now.

How do they do it? They obviously have nothing else to do, that's how. I envy people with such free time that they can afford to wage wank wars with each other over the internet.

I try my best not to get involved, but I do enjoy pointing and gawking like everyone else. As long as it isn't an everyday occurence.

Been there, done that. Sucks even f'ing more. Whenever I questioned my schedule, I was always told that the open availability people got the very last shifts left on the schedule, after those with only restricted hours were filled in. Seems backwards to me - we should get premium shifts every now and again as a 'reward' (or at least first crack at off days, dammit ( ... )

Seriously. I didn't have that much free time when I was in high school. Or college, for that matter. Now that I'm working? Forget it. Now, pointing, gawking and laughing my ass off? Totally the whole reason I ever go to those forums.

The best shifts are the five-damn-thirty-a.m. shifts that come after I work till nine the day before. That means I'm not getting home till 9:30 or 10, but I have to get up again at 3:30. Not. Helpful. That's not this week though, so one infuriating schedule at a time.

*grin* Surprises are fun. That's helping with the not-stress.

YES. That's why I have stupid_free and sf_drama, among others, linked to my travel LJ. I need a little infusion of wank to take the edge off, LOL.

That is total suck >:( Luckily P's doesn't open until 7, so our earliest shift was 6:30 (though it was 6 am for the couple of weeks we did 10-hour shifts...), but if we were closing we sometimes wouldn't get out til 12 or 1 am. I loathed closing.

I thought there was some law about having 10 hours between shifts? Or maybe that's just AL?

I used to frequent customersuck, but it was a little too close to...well, work.

Yeeeeaaah, my Wal-Mart opens at 6 and closes at midnight. This means that the opening shift gets in at 5:30 and the closers leave at 12:30. There's a LOT of room for suck in there.

I thought it was eight. At least that's what I always heard...and I dunno if that applies to Florida at all.

I could never read customers_suck, because I dealt with that sort of stupid shit on a daily basis. I want to read about people being epically stupid on the internetz, not about how they mistreat the poor saps stuck in the service industry.

P's is 7a to 10p, but closers worked 2-11 or 2:30-11:30 or 3-12 shifts. Which was good for me since I'm not a morning person, but who the hell wants to be out that late for work? Bleh. Plus it just saps your energy totally for the next day.

So: sorry you have such a sucky work schedule, dude. Been there :-/
