...but who cares?  I had fun.
I just got back a few hours ago from a trip to Atlanta to visit the Georgia Aquarium.  It.  Was.  Amazing.  I was getting right up to the glass and pointing and ooohing and aahing with the best of them.  I loved everything.  Let me say that again with capslock.  I LOVED EVERYTHING.  My favorites were probably the beluga whales and the "Ocean Voyager" tank that had whale sharks(!) in it.  The belugas were absolutely beautiful and graceful and just yes.  Awesome.  You really don't get a sense of how powerful these animals are until you watch them swim from up close and see the play of muscles under their skin.  And you really wouldn't think something that big could be so...graceful.  Beautiful.  I could have stood there for hours.  And the Ocean Voyager tank was HUGE, and it had so, so many different kinds of fish in it.  The water was slightly murky, so if you were standing on one side of the tank, you couldn't see all the way to the other side until there's this big shadow in the water and HOLY SHIT THAT'S A WHALE SHARK!  *laughs*  It was incredible.  They weren't very big for that particular species of shark.  I'd estimate that one of them was about 15 feet long and one was 25 feet long, give or take.  Hard to tell through the glass.  But standing in a glass tunnel going through the tank and seeing 20-some feet of whale shark going over your head is the coolest thing EVER.  Speaking of, there were aquariums in the roof of one of the other exhibits, and looking up and seeing a bunch of fish swimming over your head will never get old.  Never.  And the reef tank was just...I need a new synonym for "amazing" because I'm saying it too much.  I love aquariums.  That was easily the most fun I've had in ages.

In other news, I'm going back out of town tomorrow, but my computer (laptop, naturally) is going with me this time.  So, by the time I get back, there'll probably be new fic to post.

just saying hi
