Father and Mother,
Much has happened since last I wrote to you. Please forgive the delay in informing you of what has transpired since my last letter.
Father you will be most pleased to learn that the Seneschal, Sadera, has made me Fightmaster. It is only temporary until another is able to fill the role. For now though I am earning my keep at the Spire and not simply enjoying the hospitality. Kazimir was most pleased by this and assured that my place was first and foremost by his side. I have also spoken with Mistress Feldane and she has agreed to instruct me. I will have much to learn and hope not to prove a disappointing student. Her family is a strange one, Father. She and her cousin, Lady Knight Captain Taleyn Feldane are strong and forthright but the men are haunted and unwell. One of them has the power to claim my soul, strip it from my body and do as he pleases. I am not ashamed to say that such men frighten me, Father. Of such men I shall be most wary.
Mother, you were right. It took time but I no longer feel Mikhaila haunting my dreams or her claws in my heart. With your permission and that of Father's, I wish to bring visitors to our home. There is Nia and Niklas of who I have spoken before but then there is she, Lilith. I have much to tell you about her but do not know where to begin. She is only part-Weir; her father belongs to a Great House in Amber. I must honor strange traditions in claiming her but such trials will be a small price to pay for the prize she is.
Brother I am looking forward to testing your skill upon my return home. Father tells me you train well and I am glad to hear such. Mother has said you are a better shot than I at your age. In honor of this, I will craft you a bow from wood found in the mighty Arden forest. I am also crafting bows for Nia and the Seneschal of the Spire, so yours will take a little time. It will give you more time to train and practice.
Little Sister, I miss you most of all. Remember how I spoke to you of the one who could walk in the Dreaming? She is the Baksi. She found me in my dream and gifted me with courage. We played together in the snow outside our village. It reminded me of the games you and I played when we had finished our chores. I have so much to learn here in Amber, Alexis. They are a strange people these Amberites and I do not think I will ever truly understand them. I know you will enjoy the company of Lilith and Nia when we visit. I do not know yet when that might be but I hope before the new snow.
