Moorish Tavern

was lovely this year. Due to various factors (change in the date, other events happening, terrible weather on Friday) the event was alot smaller than in past years. The weather was terrible on Friday, for those who had gone down for a 3 day week-end, we drove down in rain. The rain stopped just as we got to the border, and by the time we'd set up our bunk bed area, it was getting quite pleasent out. However we were tired so we turned in pretty much as soon as we finished setting up.

Saturday turned out to be almost a perfect day for an event. Not too hot (nicely warm) with a bit of breeze to keep the fighters cool. Himself entered the rapier tourney, he had a really good day and won the tourney! It was well fought on all levels, and a pleasure to watch.

The feast was extremely yummy, we got to eat home made butter and cheese, pork with apples and all the roast elk that one could wish for. Kudos to the cooks and servers. Part of the Moorish Feast was a smaller scale test run for Crown, so those of you heading off to Crown this fall are in for a real treat!

The forecast storms for Sunday didn't arrive, at least not when we were leaving, and we had a nice drive home, though there spectacular cloud cover at times. There's supposed to be bad weather on it's way again, but so far it hasn't arrived.

The only bad thing about the week-end is that I ended up having a pain in my arm on Saturday. Since it was mostly gone Sunday morning, I've put it down to sleeping on it funny Friday night. I also think it was aggravated by the fact that I had an enjoyable day Saturday, sitting and knitting while watching the rapier tourney. No more marathon knitting sessions for me.

Alas, the week-end is now over, and it's time to do the back to work thing tomorrow. We've decided that next year we're going to make a mini vacation of Moorish, and drive down early. Should be fun.
