Macro-Microcosm Ideas
So... Holocron and Chronicles have always been great in the minutia, the microcosm. Right now the outline is all about bland, broad strokes... So I need to put that on the back burner and think about smaller ideas, fun ideas, ways to show those ideas.
Episode 1 and 2 are pretty set getting us from where we left off to our new normal, but from there? There are a lot of ideas to think about, to explore, to work with.
What planets are we going to visit? What maps do we have to work with? What planets have fallen to Okami? Which planets are protected by element powered shields?
I thought for a bit we'd get away from the element, but it is at the core of the series. Everyone needs it for something else. Okami needs it to power the KIBA, the Republic needs it to protect worlds, and the Talon need it to enact their will. But there's something I never really developed, something we didn't get into. Where did the element come from?
Star Wars is a very, very, very, very old universe. They've been all over that galaxy for more years than our planet will have ever been habitable by the time it dies. They would have found that element before if it had been around before. That means it is new. It started on Shola... Now, here is were a bit of nerd comes in. Shola is a volcanic world with tunnels running deep into the planet that no one understands, and it is assumed that the native population died out long ago.
What if the element was created there and that was what destroyed that world, made it volcanic? Mind you it can't just have come from there to have the quantities we have in the series. None of our three powers have mastered making it, so it would have to occur on other worlds. Shola was just the first? Did we ever mention them getting more after the first episode? There was the auction of course, and there are some pretty hefty amounts shown and mentioned. What other worlds should have it forming?
I spent today playing around with an everything Kotor map. I was trying to find more Force Unleashed stuff, but there is far less of that because Kotor and Jedi Academy overlapped more in terms of the games being out at the same time and people modding stuff. Anyhow, all attempts to pull out just what I wanted to failed so its all or nothing. It's the biggest PK3 I've ever seen. With the 'unlimited' mod removing all restrictions, there shouldn't be any downside to having it in there except digging through everyone extra. It includes among many other things male Twi'lek, working Ithorians, sulustans and more. It'd spice stuff up.
I mention it though because it has Rakatans. They're super malevolent enslaving aliens that have been extinct since before anyone was capable of keeping track of history. We could blame them for creating the element. They went to lots of worlds. Maybe after blowing up Shola they planted seeds on other worlds. If the element gets out of hand, maybe it'd blow up important worlds? Is that a plot worth anything?
Anyhow... Other seeds of ideas.
Where are the storm troopers now? Some stayed with Okami, some went to Alzoc, others joined the republic. How would we want to show that? Gradually? Part of the episode explaining what the Kiba does? A music video?
Okami's got a girl friend. We'll see in the Kiba episode that we spent several months trying to stop the station, getting element and building shields to protect worlds. Tyton, Ryo, Fin, Dax, I5, SM, all of us... But we start to fail. Dax falls prey to the Kiba while off world. I don't know if that's before or after Dac falls.
Okami commissioned a clone of dopple ryo with evil kaminoans and sends him to Dac to sabotage the element generator keeping the planet protected. While we investigate him on Kamino, Dac falls to the Kiba. I5 probably does a memory wipe on himself to erase the data when he is cut off from escape, but SM and the other droids manage to get out after destroying the data core.
And once more I got distracted.
So what Ellie and I found interesting was the idea that Dax gets brainwashed. Okami has a loyal and talented Mandalorian girl friend. Eventually the Republic figures out how to snap off the nano virus, how to give people their will back. Dax is then conflicted. She hates being brainwashed, hates having her will taken away, and hates subjugating people... but she was so loved, so respected, and had so much fun. She's torn. Its like a love triangle with two of herselves.
The spectators have to come back into play. They've been hiding for a year, waiting, watching.
Perhaps they have been researching the element? They don't want Okami to win, he'd make a boring universe to them.
Apparently Michael dislikes Taris and that translates into Okami not liking it. Taris is like Diet Coruscant. The map has a built in bombardment mode. originally I was going to have Iseah bomb it, but now I'm wondering motives. Would Okami just destroy worlds he views aren't worth upgrading?
So that's all for this issue of idea gathering.
